ONE BODY, MANY MEMBERS
"For the body is not one member, but many" [1 Corinthians 12:14]
The human body is wonderfully created by God. It consist of different parts(members) which are placed in their different locations in perfect arrangement. Each member performs a unique function which is different from that of other members, but very essential to the well-being of the whole body. [1 Cor. 12:12] identifies the unity and interdependence of different members of the human body, and likens it to the relationship that should exist among Christians who constitute the body of Christ.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHRISTIANS AND THE CHURCH
The church is the body of Christ and believers are members. Christ gave us further illustration of this when He describes Himself as Vine and the believers as branches [John 15:5]. Just as a branch cannot exist without the tree, no Christians can exist if detached from the body of Christ.
Members of the human body have different characteristics, positions and functions. Similarly, members of the body of Christ often differ in attributes and qualities. God in His infinite wisdom created the diversity to enrich the church. Thus, in the body of Christ, there are members with different tribes, gifts, ministries, ages and peculiarities. This way, what one member lacks, another member supply. The differences among members of the body therefore are to benefit every member not to cause divisions
