"He walks with Us..." - Daily Word #78

Today I'm impressed to share from Luke 24 of the Bible -- being the last chapter of the Book of Luke.

The scene is set, Jesus was now just resurrected and later he appeared to some of his followers on the famous Walk to Emmaus.

It was a long walk about 7 miles from Emmaus to Jerusalem (or 11km). Now that's a good long walk to talk about anything and everything. Jesus asked them to explain what they were all so intently talking about...

Luke 24:17-21

They stopped short, sadness written across their faces. Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, “You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.” “What things?” Jesus asked. “The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,” they said. “He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people. But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him. We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago. Source

I believe there are many times, we DO NOT recognize Jesus walking alongside us.

All we recognize is the pain, sadness, hurt, confusion, disillusion, of what we have gone through and are (still) going through.

When our eyes are taken away from the ONE who knows all, has seen it all, and is all, we are just down with our own wits and smarts. And instead of recognizing GOD in our circumstance, or inviting HIM in into them, we try with all of our own might to handle everything ourselves!

The next time you are faced with any situation like the LONG WALK to your Emmaus, remember that Jesus may just be walking along with you.

After all He did say He will never leave nor forsake us.

Thankfully these followers had some sensitivity and at the end, they begged Jesus to stay with them. And that's when Jesus opened their eyes!

Luke 24:29-31

“Stay the night with us, since it is getting late.” So he went home with them. As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! Source

Sometimes we need to ASK Him to enter in, even though we know He will come in, we must take the Initiative to SEEK HIM!

Will you Seek Him and Walk with Him today?
Over to you.

Blessings & Shalom.
