Topic: SERVANTHOOD
Scripture Verse
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:28 KJV
The preceeding verses of the above scripture tell the story of how the mother of James and John asked Jesus to place her sons on either side of Him. Jesus' reply was a reflection of His ministry, vision and his attitude to service. He said in Matthew 20:26-27,"But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:" Even though this formula will not make earthly sense, it is the best and most proven way to become great.
In the kingdom of God , the way to the top is first down and people who want to be great must learn to serve. We cannot keep wearing our nice church dresses and remain pew warmers in church without service and expect to go far. If we lay down ourselves for others, God carries us to the top. Don't despise humble beginnings, else you will miss out on the experiences and the process to greatness. There is a certain heart that great people must have and we can only develop this heart when we humble ourselves before God and serve his people. The lack of a servant' heart limits us in what we can do. The state of our hearts makes the people around us honor us.
Fortunately for us, we have a perfect example to follow when it comes to service. Jesus Christ gave His life as a ransom for many and now His name is exalted above every other name. In the same way , when we humble ourselves , God will lift us up!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for your word. I pray that you teach me to humble myself and serve in your house , in Jesus' name. Amen
