Scripture verse
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Ephesians 3:16 (KJV)

The real man is the inner man, the spirit of man. Apostle Paul was very conscious of this fact when he made this prayer. In the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, it is the strength of the inner man that is being put to test.

When everything around is putting pressure on you to settle for the status quo , and yet you decide to move on and press on, that is strength made manifest. Our strength should be built within us. The Bible admonishes us to make God the source of our strength. We have inner strength from knowing who our God is. When we are fully persuaded in Him, no situation can change our mind.

Who we are should be what God says. We become weak when we allow situations around us to define us. It is God who made us, and not we ourselves (Psalm 100:3). We are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10), so we belong to Him and no one else. Could you imagine anyone who knows about a car better than the manufacturer of the car? Whose report will you believe, the manufacturer's or another person's?

Most of the time we allow circumstances to define who we are. Eg failing once doesn't make you a failure. The fact that you don't have what you want yet doesn't mean you are nobody or useless. You should know that you are who you are because the word of God says so.

Remember that you were made by the word of God, for there was nothing He made without His word. If you know His word and hold on to it despite 'evidence' to the contrary, the enemy cannot stop you. So hold on to His word. Be strong in the lord.

Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You for Your word. I pray that you help me to build inner strength that will help me stand firm regardless of surrounding circumstances. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
