THE MIND OF CHRIST - PART 2
This is the concluding part of our discussion on the MIND OF CHRIST.
From our last discussion, we were able to see that the mind of Christ is soul winning and we saw that it's achievable through evangelism. Jesus in the book of John10:10 said:
"I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly"
We saw that humility is also the character of Christ. The bible in the book of Phil.2:8 says
"He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross".
But today, we are going to see further minds of Christ that should be found in us as children of God.
BROTHERLY KINDNESS:
We are expected to be our brothers' keeper. We are not to be like Cain who killed his brother and when God asked him, he said I know not and turnaround to ask God, are my, my brother's keeper?
Remember the golden rule which says,
"do unto others what you want them to do unto you".
That is the same as "whatever you sow that shall you also reap". So showing kindness to your brother is like a farmer sowing his seed. After some days, he will reap.
The difference between what a farmer sow and brotherly kindness is that your reaping may not be from whom you sow your seed to.
This is similar to agape love. Here the love is unconditional and it's not for the sake of the person you show the kindness to but because Christ gave the command.
Jesus during His earthly ministry had compassion on the sick, the lame, the blind, the impotent man for thirty eight years at the pool of Bethesda, Zacchaeus at Bethany and even wept for his friend Lazarus. What a love and compassion he exhibited. Imagine the master weeping along with Mary and Martha His friends.
Jesus was friendly even with His accusers. Matt.26:50. He had compassion on the adulterous woman, forgave her and condemned her not.
From these examples so far, we can see that Jesus empathised, sympathized, cared, sacrificed, and loved His brethrens. So we as His children should emulate Him by having that same mind set. We are to honor Christ by submitting to each other. Rom.15:2.
"let everyone of us please his neighbors for his good to edification."
Brothers and sisters, let this mind that was in Christ be in you also.
Living the life of Christ will benefit you more than your brother. So keep to it.
Remain blessed!
May we have the grace to live the life of Christ in Jesus name.
