RE: Subway for Speed - Star Ferry for Views (Hong Kong)

It's a shame that I can't view the YouTube due to my VPN's performance being rather inconsistent. However, I would like to take a stroll on some of the HK beaches at some point.

Hello strayenglishman, I hope that you will do that one day. I met a lot of very interesting people from the UK and I was able to explore several of the remote beaches in Hong Kong and the New Territories.
Perhaps try your local library or a McDonalds or Starbucks who have free wifi?

It’s not a WiFi issue but a VPN one, VPNs have been under heavy attack on the mainland and aren’t functioning so well; I currently live in Shenzhen. Therefore YouTube can be hard to access unfortunately.

Just watched the video on my phone; the VPN functions much better on that device.

Oh Ok, I understand now. I was just in Shenzhen (and Hong Kong) last month and took the metro from Shenzhen Airport to Kowloon in almost 2 hours.
You can get to some of the hikes in 3 hours (+/- 1 hour) depending where you're coming from.
If you decide to go, I can give you written instructions on how to get to the beaches I visited - you can email me at

I This playlist will have the videos posted so far on the beaches I visited in "Hong Kong" vicinity
