Day 1 in Shanghai, China.

in #china7 years ago

Greetings everyone!

I have just returned from my trip to China and I would like to write about my journey on the way and back in Shanghai and Beijing. Me and my family decided to go on a 6-day trip starting on Wednesday, last week. It took us around 5-6 hours flight from our country to Shanghai and boy, did it made my bottoms sore. Just to point things out, it was my second flight I have taken in my whole life other than Singapore. It only took us 1 and a half hour for us to travel to Singapore so I wasn't used to it.

                          Took this after the lift-off.

During our journey, we spent the rest of the flight watching the movies played on the airplane's TV screen. The food was pretty decent as we only took an economy flight but at least it filled our stomachs. The meal consisted of chicken rice, salad, a bun spread in butter, and chocolate cake (Yummy!). I chose lemon tea as my beverage.

After arriving in Shanghai's airport, we were instantly greeted by the cold weather. It wasn't the coldest yet, but since I live in a country where it is sunny and rainy everyday, I wasn't used to winter. After grabbing our luggage bags, knowing how me and my family could not live without the internet, we bought ourselves some mobile line to be used in China. That way we can access the internet. Being well-prepared, we weren't that surprised that China has banned Google, Youtube, etc. so we had to use another search engine called Yahoo! to search and book hotels in Beijing when we get there the next day.

Thank you to these two wonderful ladies who assisted us to connect the internet! :)

It was sad that not many people in China knew English and we had to depend on ourselves to get directions using my brother's iPad for GPS. We first went on a taxi towards our hotel but sadly, he dropped us off 10 minutes away from our actual destination! Talk about terrible service. We had to walk all the way to our hotel along with our luggages. Here are some pictures to show our way. Haha.

PS: Sorry for the blur on the couple. My phone's focus sucked since we were walking.

After settling down in our hotel rooms, we decided to go sightseeing around the area before heading off to Shanghai's harbor. I felt really cold and wasn't prepared for the weather that I didn't even wore socks nor gloves. My hands literally felt like as if they will fall off from the cold. The temperature was only 1 Degree Celsius. I know I'm lame that I can't handle the cold but I've been living in a country where 27-30 Degree Celsius is common for us.

Regardless of the weather, the place was magnificent and it literally took my breath away. I'll just let the pictures speak for me.

I just couldn't take my eyes off of this sight back there.

This is the beginning of the Shanghai Harbor. We spent almost 2 hours here.
