Let them play a little more. Let them enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood. Let kids be kids.

When our kids are at school age we tend to burden them with school assignments, projects and studies. But we could not blame ourselves for being so because as parents we also do not want to see our child being left behind in terms of abilities or knowledge from other kids his age. We want to see them confident and well-rounded.

However I have also noticed that we tend to give them too much which makes them too pressured. Sometimes their playtime is sacrificed because of study time and too much assignment.

We all know Education is essential but Playtime also is. Technically playtime is essential for the proper development of our kids because it contributes to their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Cognitive is closely related to problem solving, decision making and reasoning. Physical is their body control. Social is their interaction with other people. Emotional well-being is the ability for them to be able to function well in the society and to meet the demands of everyday life.

In my case having an ASD child who is studying in a regular school, I admit he is more advanced in Reading and English than his classmates in which I am proud. He also struggles in Math and Filipino.

But I have also realized that it won't matter to me if my child is not the most advanced nor the most intelligent pupil in the class what matters to me is that he is happy and is having enough playtime for him to also learn things on his own. Of course, I study with him when needed and we make assignments together.

Another thing also is I want him to enjoy his childhood. It won't be long that they would grow up into teenagers then to adults and it will never be the same. They will then be more focused on the more serious things. So now that they are still kids let them play...let us also unleash the child within us and play with them..let us hug and kiss them while they are still not ashamed to do so..Let them be kids.....
