Push, Capture, or Ignore
Learn how to deal with pawn tension and decide when to push, capture, or play elsewhere. If you can defend and attack simultaneously, that's often the best option. However, other times it's best to defend threats directly or even to ignore them and do something more important.
White just played d4, attacking the e5 pawn. Should you push, capture, or ignore?
Great job! Black prevents White from dominating the center. Can you find the strongest way to develop a piece and attack White's queen?
You got it! Black develops a knight to a great square and gains a tempo against White's prematurely developed queen.
