Hey Charlottesville, There's Only One Race

I've attended Church all my life. As a child, I remember singing, "Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world." Granted, I grew up in a predominantly white community, but from a young age, my family and Church instilled in me the truth that God created every individual and God loves everyone the same.

As I got older, I often heard the term "differing races" of people. In reality, those people utilizing that phraseology meant differing skin colors. There really is only one race...the human race. Every individual on the planet is a direct descendant of Noah and his family and ultimately of Adam and Eve. Over the last few thousand years, and because of genetic differences, various pigmentations of skin developed. In the very beginning, Adam and Eve were probably quite brown. Over time those with a propensity to have darker skin had darker skin. Those having a propensity of lighter skin had lighter skin. One race, differing skin colors.

Unfortunately, throughout history some chose to identify those with darker skin as being cursed by God. But proving that Biblically is impossible. It seems the thought process is that darkness and evil go hand in hand...therefore, darker skinned people are inferior. Of course this is blatantly false, but humans tend to believe what they want to believe, ignoring the fact that God doesn't play favorites.

Hey Charlottesville...There is only one race. Period.
