THE SIX (6) PILLARS OF CHARACTER AND ETHICAL VALUES
• TRUSTWORTHINESS
Trustworthiness is a very essential ethical value I’m going to start with- to gain trust, you’ve got to be honest, you don’t go around deceiving, cheating or stealing. You‘ve got to be reliable, doing the things you say you’re going to do. Always have the courage to do the right things. My Mentor always says “Say the truth even if your voice shakes”. People will respect you for being honest, saying things “the way they are” not “the way you wish them to be”. Build a reputation for yourself and be loyal. Always stand by your family, friends and loved ones. Remember, trust, once lost is always not easy to regain.
• RESPECT
Another important ethical value is RESPECT. Today’s society people tend to throw this very ethic to the wind more often than not. Trust people with respect: follow the golden rule. Be tolerant of differences having in mind that although Mr. A could be of semblance with Mr. B, they are two different personalities with ideologies and perspectives that differs. Use good manners and avoid foul languages and swear words. Be considerate of the feelings of others and learn to respect the views and opinions of others. Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone. Deal peacefully with anger, insult and disappointments.
• RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibility is a key ethic that MUST be cultured and imbibed, do what you’re supposed to do at the right time, keep on trying and never give up- A wise man once said “Victory isn’t for quitters”. Always give your all and give A LITTLE MORE. Use self-control and be self-disciplined. Never act before you think and always consider the consequences of that action you’re about to take. And always be accountable for your choices, actions and inactions.
• FAIRNESS
Most humans conclude without hearing IMPASSE (hearing from both sides). Don’t be judgemental and always play by the rules. Take turns to share, be open-minded and always avoid unnecessary assumptions. Do well to be a good listener. Talk less, listen more. Don’t take advantage of people’s vulnerability because you could one day be vulnerable. Avoid rumours, gossips and news from unreliable sources and don’t blame others carelessly.
• CARING
This ethic is more of a virtue. Be kind and compassionate, show love and care at all times and never forget to express gratitude. A little “thank you” or “sorry” could go a long way. Forgive easily and always lend a helping hand. Remember, ”A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
• CITIZENSHIP
Sounds strange right? but it’s an underrated but important ethical value. Do your part to make your school, community and country a better place. My dad usually tells me that “if I want to make the world a better place, I’ll just have to start with myself”. Cooperate and get involved in community affairs and whatnots. Stay informed and abreast with the ancient and modern facilities around you and the ones that come by the day. Vote, and be a good neighbour and always obey laws and rules. Never disrespect authority no matter how meagre and small. And lastly, protect your environment.
Good job! Thanks to @nitesh9 you have planted 0.10 tree to save Abongphen Highland Forest in Cameroon. Help me to plant 1,000,000 trees and share my Steem Power to the others. Selfvoting is prohibited, but that should be the reason to spread the world to protect our precious environment. Check out profile of our conservation association @kedjom-keku and the founder/coordinator @martin.mikes to get more information about our conservation program. My current SP is 14291.26. Help me to plant more trees with your delegated SP.
Thanks a lot,

This article is full of wisdom, and great advice for living, @mzeechase! I agree with the advice @samstikkz has given you. I would add that before selecting tags, look on the list of tags by clicking on the "explore" link in the Steemit menu, and try to use those tags if possible. The first tag you list should be the one most relevant to your topic. Practice using Markdown to format nicely. The link for the instructions is right above the post preview box. Experiment and learn!
Even without any improvements your article is definitely worth my upvote and resteem. Great job! Cheers!
