Chandranath Temple is one of the most famous Shakti Peetha situated on the Chandranath hill near Sitakunda of Bangladesh. Sitakunda is the natural beauty of Lilabhumi. It is better to call this area a great pilgrimage place of Hindus. Chandranath temple situated at the highest peak of this place. According to the rajmala, about 800 years ago King Vibhbahar, the descendant of Gaur's famous Adisu, tried to reach Chandrannaath by sea. Dhan Manikya, the ruler of Tripura, failed to get the Shiva statue removed from this temple in his kingdom. According to various information, there are many types of information about this history. It is believed that the ancient Neolithic period began to inhabit the people of Sitakunda. From the stone-founder of the stone age of the invention, the signature of the Assamese people carry its signature. As far as history is concerned, the entire Chittagong region was under the kingdom of Arakan in the 6th and 7th centuries. In the following century, the rule of this region went away (770-810) by Pala emperor Dharmapal. Sultan Fakhruddin Mubarak Shah of Sonargaon (1338-1349) captured this region in 1340 AD. Later, in 1538, when the last sultan of the Sultanate dynasty of Bengal, Sultan Gayasuddin Muhammad Shah was defeated near the saint dynasty of Sher Shah Suri, this region went to the kingdom of Arakan and the descendants of Arakan continued to rule this region. Later the Portuguese shared the Arakanese rule and from 1538 to 1666, this region ruled together the Portuguese and Arakanese descendants. At the end of nearly 128 years, in 1966, the Mughal commander Buzrugh Unme Khan took control of the Arakanese and the Portuguese by defeating the Arabs.

Shiva Chaturdhasi Mela:

This temple is worshiped annually in Shivratri and Shivaratrai Tithi; There is a huge fair in Sitakunda on this worship. Hindus living in Sitakunda Chandranath hill area organized a large fair each year in Bangla Falgun (English February-March month). Which is known as the Shimrudshshmi Mela. Many fair saints and men and women from different countries of the world including Bangladesh will join this fair.
