Application for Steemit Challenge Season 26: A Challenge for Climate Awareness

Global warming is now a reality that is happening right in front of our eyes, not just a hypothesis. Massive devastation has been caused by climate change in recent years, and 2025 has already added to this terrible history. Devastating floods struck South Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan just this year.
Heavy monsoon spells exacerbated by global warming caused thousands of homes to be demolished, over a million people to be impacted, and agricultural grounds to be washed away, according to NDMA. Globally, similar trends were observed.
Brazil experienced one of the worst droughts in decades, which caused many crops to fail. While Italy faced record temperatures and water shortages, the West Coast of the United States saw severe heatwaves and wildfires. Due to a single cause—climate change—these occurrences are no longer isolated. I want to use this Steemit Challenge to spread the word about global warming and encourage planting trees as a workable remedy.
Trees are our most effective natural weapon against climate change. A single mature tree can absorb around 48 pounds (about 22 kg) of carbon dioxide per year. According to experts, if we plant one trillion trees globally, we can reduce atmospheric CO₂ by up to 25%.
The proposed Steemit Challenge will be based on two main components:
- Weekly Awareness Challenges: Participants will raise awareness by creating impactful posters and wearing custom-designed T-shirts with global warming messages. They will showcase these in public spaces such as local markets, community centers, and busy squares.
OR
- Tree Plantation Drive: Participants will be encouraged to plant at least one three tree during the challenge and document it with photos or short videos. The aim is not only to spread knowledge but also to inspire action.
The competition will create a sense of urgency and hope. I believe in the power of small actions creating large change. Through this contest, we will motivate people—especially the younger generation—to be more environmentally responsible.
This is not just a content-based challenge—it is a climate action movement. By combining awareness with physical effort (planting trees), we will contribute positively to our environment.
The challenge will encourage storytelling, fact-sharing, personal experience posts, and real-life tree-planting. I hope this idea will not only fit within the spirit of the Steemit Challenge but also make a lasting impact.
