"Free" phone service
I'd heard that there was this program where low income households could have cell phone service for free. I tried to apply once online and got hung up enough that I gave up.
Then I discovered it again when someone recommended RedPocket as a decent provider of cheap cellular service. I went to their website and found link to apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
It's a long story, but my application was successful... and RedPocket screwed up pretty much everything... resulting in me being on the phone with them for hours and hours last night and getting nowhere.
I finally asked them if they wanted my business.
They really didn't seem to care all that much. There was nothing they could do, I had to... yada yada...
By that point I'd pulled up the T-Mobile chat line. The lady there referred me to Assurance Wireless.
So I went through their process.
It seemed to get hung up so I called their support line. They told me everything looked good on their end, but I should check back the next day.
So I called them back today. They told my device is already in the shipping process. I can activate the free phone service once it arrives.
I think I'm finally getting somewhere.
