Daily Celestial Challenge- Saturday-Agriculture - Vegetables, why you should eat them.

A vegetable is a plant or part of a plant used as food. The part of the plant is not always leave-like as many might believe. It may be the seeds of the plant or the tubers, bulbs or stems. Questions are being asked about the difference between fruits and vegetables. Although both are very nutritional, they are different. Fruits are seed bearing structures that develop from the ovary of plants for example tomatoes and apples, while vegetables involve the other part of the plant which include the leaves, stem and roots. Example of root vegetable is potato, for the leave vegetable it is lettuce and for the stem vegetable an example is broccoli.

Vegetables are very healthy and nutritional amd here are some reasons why it is important to eat them.
-they're important sources of many nutrients which include potassium which helps to maintain blood pressure and could be found in sweet potatoes, folic acid that helps the body form red blood cells, vitamin A which keep the eyes and skin healthy also protecting against infections and vitamin C that helps to heal cuts and wounds also keeping the teeth and gum healthy.

-naturally they are low in fat but not of them contain cholesterol although these maybe present when the vegetable is cooked and seasoned.

-eating diets rich in vegetables helps to reduce the risk of heart diseases including heart attack and stroke.

-it may reduce the risk of having certain types of cancer like the lung and mouth cancer.

-consuming vegetables rich in fibre can reduce the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Consuming vegetables reduce blood pressure and development of kidney stones. It also helps to decrease bone loss.

Apart from being very nutritional, some vegetables are very delicious and it would be very nice to include them in our diet, consuming them maybe once or twice a day. Thanks for your time.
