# Darkness

In the Latin term "obscuritas" is the etymological origin of the word darkness. And that, in turn, derives from "obscurus" (dark), which is the result of the sum of two components:
• The prefix "ob-", which is used to indicate opposition.
• The Indo-European root "skeu-", which can be translated as "hide".

Some define it as the absence of light.

But we all usually associate darkness with evil. Why do we make this association?

Because under the shadow of darkness is that evil comes to life. Darkness is the perfect setting for fear to take over people. That's why the darkness is dark.

To counteract the darkness of the universe we need the sun, but to counteract the emotional darkness we need the light of God.

We all prefer to walk in the light because in it we can contemplate the beauty of the day, it fills us with peace and tranquility, we love the light because we were created by the very light of the world. Instead the darkness inspires us fear and fills us with insecurity that is why we feel rejection towards it.

It is good to know that even in the midst of darkness (fear, sadness), we have a God who, with his light, fills us with well-being, comforts us and gives us love.
