The Lions
Lions are wild animals that consumes a wide variety of prey, from human, impala, zebra, giraffe, wild hogs to sometimes rhinos and hippos etc, they feed on smaller animals like hares, birds and reptiles and they are also known to attack elephants when there is scarcity if food.Since the early 1950s the Lion population has reduced till date and fewer than 21,000 remain in all of Africa, though lions lives in most parts of Africa, they are now found only in the south Sahara desert and in parts of southern and eastern Africa.Lions consist of about 10-15 lions within a pride. They are affectionate when resting and they tend to enjoy good fellowship with lots of touching, head rubbing, licking and purring. The males are territorial, and females do almost all of the hunting. The lion lies in his den and sleeps in the daytime,at night he goes out in search of food. His eyes are little like of a cat they can see in the night better than we can. The Bible says, "Thou makest darkness and it is night; wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens." They have soft feet like a cat that enables them creep quietly along not frightening the animals that they means to kill, till they comes very near their prey. Sometimes the lion lies in his den quietly, until a prey comes by; then he suddenly seizes it just as a cat seizes a mouse. The Bible says, when referring to a wicked man, "He lieth in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; he lieth in wait to catch the poor; he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net."
The lion has very strong claws hidden in the soft cushion of their paws, when they have caught their prey they uses them to tear it in pieces. Their tongue is like that of a cat but very rough with that they can strip the flesh off from the bones. David in one of the psalms prays that God will save him from an enemy, "Lest," he says, "he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces when there is none to deliver."
The roaring of the lion is very terrible, especially at night. His roaring sounds like thunder, and all the animals that hear it are full of fear. Just like Satan "the most wicked being" who enjoys making people wicked and devouring them; the Bible says he is like "a roaring lion, walking about, seeking whom he may devour." But "Fear not" for fear and faith can not coexist in our brain or heart. One shall dominate and the other flee. Remember Daniel in the Lion’s Den!! That story tells us how Daniel is raised to high office by his royal master Darius the Mede , but jealous rivals of Daniel trick Darius into issuing a decree which condemns Daniel to death. Darius hoping for Daniel's deliverance but he was unable to save him, the king has him cast into the pit of lions. And all through the night the king Darius could not sleep and at daybreak he hurries back, asking if God had saved his friend. Daniel replies that God had sent an angel to close the jaws of the lions, "because I was found blameless before him.(Daniel 6:22)"My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime." In the next verse of that same chapter "The king then gave orders, and they brought those men who had maliciously accused Daniel, and they cast them, their children and their wives into the lions' den; and they had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones(Daniel 6:24)
