Crops for dry land
World wide agriculture is used as a source of food for the population, many tribes of the world still depend on it as the major source of food. Today i wanted to share some knowledge about a crop that can be grown in arid climate.
Water melon
A fruit filled with water yet does so well in the dry climate. The plant yield very sweet and delicious fruits in the desert heat. As the weather cools in fall season the growth slows down. After eating a watermelon just bury the seeds in your garden. Soon you will have many seedlings which you can thin out to keep 3-4 plants.
Watermelon plants have moderately deep roots and watering is seldom necessary unless the weather turns dry for a prolonged period. When vines begin to ramble, side dress plants with half a cup of balanced fertilizer. A third application of fertilizer should be made when melons are set. Withhold water as melons start to mature to intensify sweetness.
