Daily Celestial Challenge : Forces In Nature

I just found and joined the #celestialchallenge created by @sirknight,in today’s theme “FORCES IN NATURE”, I will be giving a brief breakdown about the MOON & THE TIDES.

Haven't you ever wondered how two things so far away can interact with each other so passionately and synchronically …… well that is the relationship between the moon and the tides

TIDES

Tides are generic words used to define an alternating fall and rise in sea or ocean level in relation to the land, produced by the gravitational attraction between the moon and the sun. Tides are created because the moon and the earth are attracted to each other, just like magnets. The moon acts deliberately to pull at anything on the earth to drag it closer, but the earth fights back and holds on to everything except the water, and that is because the water is always moving,so the moon is able to pull at it.

Each day there are two are two high tides and two low tides. The ocean is constantly moving from high tides to low tides and then back again to high tides. And there is 12 hours and 25 minutes between the two high tides.

The gravitational attraction of the moon causes the ocean to bulge out in the direction of the moon. Another bulge occurs on the opposite side, since the earth is being pulled towards the moon and away from the water on the far side. As the moon travels around the earth and as they, together, travel around the sun,the combined gravitational forces cause the world’s ocean to rise and fall. Since the earth is rotating while this is happening, two tides occur each day.

If you want a follow up post on the two kinds of tides that occur …..let me know in the comments session
