The jackfruit in my garden has borne fruit.
Hello friends, the heat makes me unable to think properly and it also makes my garden plants not grow well. Some of my plants can't grow well, they have yellow leaves and I feel hot when I have to be in the garden outdoors because some of my garden is still open and some have big trees.
The big tree that is left is the Santol tree. Even though it's hot, now it has given me fruit. Santol (Santol) Scientific name is Sandoricum koetjape (Burm. f.) Merr. In English, it is Santol. It is a fruit that originated in Indochina. Each country has a different local name. In Thailand, in the Northeast, Santol is called Ma Tong or Mak Tong. In the North, it is called Ma Tong or Matin. In the South, this fruit is called Tien, Lon, Saton, Stiya, Satoo, Satoo. It is a fruit in the same family as Langsat and Longkong. There are 4 species in total: Puifai Santol, Ila Santol, Thaptim Santol and Nimnuan Santol.
Santol is a medium to large tree with a trunk that splits into grooves. The bark is smooth and light pink-brown with air spaces. The leaves are in clusters 20-40 centimeters long. When ripe, the leaves are brick red or orange. The flowers are in clusters 5-15 centimeters long. The flowers are small, light yellow or light green with a yellow tint. They are perfect flowers with a slight fragrance. The fruit is round or flat, holding water. The young fruit is green. When ripe, it turns yellow. The seeds are kidney-shaped and arranged vertically, 5 seeds. It is a seasonal fruit. It usually bears fruit from March to May. Santol is a fruit that can be used as herbal medicine in many parts, whether it is fresh leaves, bark, or roots. However, most people like to eat the fruit as both savory and sweet dishes because it tastes delicious and has a soft and smooth texture.
Santol has the following good properties:
Rich in vitamins
Santol is a fruit rich in vitamins B and C, which help prevent bleeding gums. In addition, antioxidants in Santol help prevent heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease. In addition, vitamin B in Santol also helps stimulate the body's metabolism, improves mood, and prevents the risk of congenital malformations in the fetus.
Helps control blood sugar levels
The fiber in santol will help slow down the digestive system, causing sugar from food to be digested into glucose more slowly, and preventing blood sugar from rising.
Prevents colon cancer
With the high fiber content of santol, santol has become another type of food that can help prevent colon cancer. Because the fiber in santol will stimulate the digestive system, allowing the intestines to work efficiently. You don't have to worry about constipation or irritable bowel syndrome, which puts you at risk of colon cancer.
Weight loss aid
Less sweet and high fiber are good qualities of food that should be eaten during weight loss, and santol is one of them. Eating santol will help you get more fiber, making you feel full for a long time and not hungry often. The sugar in santol is also natural sugar that the body can use immediately.
Treats skin diseases
In addition to being a delicious food, santol is also considered a herb. The leaves of santol can be ground to treat many skin diseases, such as psoriasis, rashes, ringworm, and other skin diseases.
