Family Traditions || Семейные традиции

Hello, friends! I participate in contests so rarely that I seem to have forgotten how it happens. Hehehe. However, contests remain a great way to make friends with almost the entire world!

So, my family traditions. Probably the main tradition is to help each other. God willing, it will live for a very long time, preferably forever:) For example, we have a tradition of planting potatoes and other vegetables. As far back as I can remember, we have always worked in the field in the spring and fall. In the summer, we collected bugs and cleaned the grass so that the potatoes would grow well. In addition to the plot next to the house, we had two plots a couple of kilometers from home. I went there by bike when I got older.

Then I grew up and got married. My husband's parents also plant potatoes, and of course, we help them. And then they give us potatoes for food:) Of course, we no longer have the opportunity to collect bugs and weed the grass, but planting and harvesting potatoes - now that's a tradition! It seems that for this purpose we put aside all our other affairs. The weather also plays its role.

This year we have already started to dig up potatoes little by little, for food. Not for mass storage yet (this usually happens in September), but just to have potatoes on the table. We eat them all the time: in soups, as a side dish. In general, we boil, fry and bake.

There was a time when I thought that I would never want to do agricultural work, but now I have become an adult and enjoy digging in the garden. For me, it is not so much work as a rest from the computer and the bustle of the city.

I invite you to take part in the competition @knopka145 (come on, write something already!), @filinpaul (surely, your family has interesting traditions!), @galca (share your beautiful story). Well, and invite the rest, please!

The contest is hosted here: https://steemit.com/ccc/@gertu/contest-week-5-let-s-talk-about-a-tradition-concurso-semana-5-hablemos-sobre-una-tradicion. I would be happy if you supported the activity!

Thank you for the contest! I wish you good luck and inspiration!

Hello, it's a pleasure to read you. I found you by luck. Can you please send the link from this post to my contest. ? In this way you are registered as another participant.

I love agricultural work. And potatoes are never missing from my table, But I must tell you that I have never been able to harvest a single potato. I have tried to plant and the plants rot, dry, and are filled with insects.
I like to eat potatoes in any form. I really like this family tradition.

Yes, thank you for the reminder. I think I've done everything except the final step :)

It's strange that potatoes don't grow well in your area. In our region, potatoes are considered one of the most resilient crops. While the yield may not always be perfect, it usually lasts for the season. What crops do you grow in your area?
We primarily cultivate zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Unfortunately, watermelons and cantaloupes do not thrive in our northern regions. However, we enjoy delicious strawberries, raspberries, currants, apples, and cherries.

I wasn't talking about my region but about the garden of my house. I like to plant everything but potatoes have never been given to me.
My region has a tropical climate and vegetables of all kinds are harvested.
There is a part of my place of residence that is about 45 minutes from my house and it is very cool, strawberries, apples and cherries and other fruits from cool places are harvested. Now, going about 45 minutes in the opposite direction from my house is a very hot place where potatoes, ocumos and others are grown.
In my garden I have been able to harvest zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Where I am is surrounded by areas of planting and breeding of multiple animals. It is an area very suitable for livestock farming and crops, in fact meat and vegetables are exported from here. Coffee and cocoa are also produced here, which is one of the best in the world.
And I won't tell you more because there is a lot to tell. I think that in my next contest topic I will talk about this topic.

I have a baby of quail in my garden. Now they are small but in another month, I will have quail eggs again.

I am surprised you say you want to live forever. I try to picture you at the age of 200 planting potatoes.
It's good to be surrounded by nature, it brings peace of mind since there's time to think and focus.
During my childhood, many had a garden or rented one. They were called "folk's gardens" good for vegetables or flowers or just to be outside, surrounded by what you grew, an escape from home and of course, contact with different neighbours.
It's all gone.

oh, no, I don't think I'll live forever. I meant that this tradition of helping our parents should live forever. However, we don't really know what's best...)

Oh, thanks for explaining. With you I hope it will. It's good to have something look forward to and doing it together. The food will taste better too.
