Ahoy Abigail A VSS Prompt Microfiction
For the "Pet on a boat" prompt from the FB group Vocal Social Society (VSS)

“Oh God, I’m gonna die,” moaned Abigail, hiding under a tarp while the boat sped across the lake.
Her human mom had taken Abigail along for a weekend out of the city. Normally, the cat would be left safely at home, but her mom noticed a disturbing trend lately. Every time she returned from up north, Abigail would meow incessantly for hours. Her reasoning, she confessed, was to punish her mom for leaving her alone.
When Abigail noticed mom packing for yet another weekend, she insisted that she go along too. Being a cat, the very definition of stubborn, she hissed and snarled and whined until her mom gave in, even though mom knew it was a bad idea.
So there she was - scared shitless, which was evident by the smell, trapped on speed boat in the middle of nowhere, trying to find a hiding place. And the worst was yet to come.
When the humans reached their destination, her mom grabbed Abigail by the scruff and dunked her in the lake to clean the shit off her ass. Abigail not only had to endure the terror of the boat, now she was sure her mom was trying to drown her.
Later that evening, as she chased flies around the campfire, she planned her revenge. “You think that was shit,” Abigail mumbled while glaring at her mom. “Just wait until we get home, I’ll show you a pile of shit that would make an elephant blush.”
