As I mentioned in my Cat test post, when there is no wildlife around, cats are a great substitute.
Couple of years ago we had a back luck during our vacation in Carpathian mountains of Western Ukraine. It was end of February and instead of snowy fairy-tale we've found only puddles and mud around our small wooden hotel.
It was a local cat who saved the situation and supplied many fun moments of joy and excitement.

The chlorine in fresh tap water irritates sensitive parts of the cat's nose. Let tap water sit for 24 hours before giving it to a cat.
