EDUCATE is to LOVE,
In this article I am going to talk about the scope or importance that Love has for education. And the education of our students and children is much more than transmitting knowledge. I could summarize it as EDUCATE is LOVE, but I will try to develop this idea. (From now on I will refer to the word MASTER to all that it encompasses: teachers, teachers, educators, etc).
As teachers and parents, we have to put Love at the center of our lives and also in the educational sphere, that is, in the classroom.
Therefore, it is a prerequisite that a teacher loves what he does and that love, affection and tenderness be what surrounds everything else.
I would like to highlight two ideas:
It may be that we have the best training and we are excellent professionals, but without Love we would not advance towards the essence of education, which is none other than transformation.
It may be that we offer the best methodologies, but without Love, without vocation and without the capacity to transmit that Love to learn, it would be very difficult to positively influence the students.
We need teachers in our educational system with vocation and with the ability to transmit illusion for life and enthusiasm for knowing.
Santa Teresa of Calcutta already said it, the difference is not in what we do but in the Love that we put into what we do. And this, extrapolated to our field, to education, the important thing is not what we know but the Love and passion that we put at the time of transmitting what we know.
Our objective has to be to help our students and children to discover the Love for the things and the values that allow them to be, not only good professionals, but most importantly, good people and honest citizens.
That is why a good education needs something that can not be bought with money and that is nothing other than Love. Love so that our students and children find the greatest of riches: faith, trust, illusion, happiness and the truth to advance in life; move forward in a meaningful life and capable of overcoming the obstacles that get in the way. A life with good and bad moments, but worth living; a life to live it fully, where each and every one of us is not spectators, but we are the main actors in our own lives.
Therefore, teachers are obliged to transmit the values for the integral development, talent and potential of our students and children; transmit confidence, who we are and what we do and have the necessary energy to "empty out" and bring out the best we have. And, all this, without a doubt, could not be achieved without Love.
In addition, to educate in love is to create a positive atmosphere of trust in the classroom, to apply courage, joy, as well as the patience needed to resist when things do not work out as we had thought. It is also to combat boredom, from the game, music, sports, multiple intelligences, activities in nature and using the imagination to encourage creativity and innovation. Undoubtedly all this will condition the fight against boredom and the lack of motivation of both teachers and students.
