The Original Little Mermaid
This was the saddest Little Mermaid I ever saw as a child due to the fact it was the actual canon story. Toei Animation got the 'rights' from Hans Christoper Anderson's co relatives to make an animated film annotation of it. This was long before Disney's : The Little Mermaid but gave one of Walts Disney's Co Founders reason to make the Disney version with a happy ending. This was the first little mermaid I saw and might have been the first time I suffer from depression watching this film.

I have ever read a book with the title "the little mermaid"..that book is good..
The 1975 anime version has the same source material of the book but only difference is that the violence and rituals were sort of censored for kids back in the day.

This is a old anime created by Toei Animation after giving permission from Hans Andersons Co Founders. This was release long before the Disney version. As far as you telling me that you dont think disney is anime, in a way it is. You forgot one of the first animes that were animated by the help of disney animators, lets not forget Betty Boop and Astro Boy.
