RE: 1959 Maserati 5000 GT 2+2 Coupé
That is an absolutely pretty car from every angle possible, even on the interior. I'm excited for May 2020, for Bitcoin's halving, and definitely for Maserati's announcement. I hope it'll be equally as good compared to the outgoing GranTurismo, and that's quite a high bar.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful car, @heroldius!
P.S. I hope I'm doing the "tipu curate" thing right this time
@tipu curate
You're welcome. Very nice car, I like the front grill with the emblem of Maserati in the middle.
For Tipu Curate, you need to be a curator. You can see the condition here tipu.online/curators
Ah, so that's how the Tipu Curate works. I guess I'll have to work out how to be a curator.
I do like how Maserati's integrated their emblem here as well. It's a most striking figure to behold. I also admire the fact that this was a coachbuilt car, and truly bespoke.
Yesterday I was looking for the different coachworks of the 5000 GT :

Bertone
Allemano (source RM Sotheby's sold for $US 885,000)
Pininfarina (wikipedia)
Frua (source)
Monterosa (source)
It's cool to see for the same model different coachwork. It would be interesting to see this on modern cars... Your favorite ? For me, the Shah of Persia... The model by Frua looks funny.
I do miss the old days of coachbuilding, but I guess with today's safety regulations, and more complex automotibles, that just isn't something common anymore :-(
It's also interesting to see so many different coachworking for just one model. I think my favourites are the Shah of Persia and the Monterosa 5000GTs.
They both look elegant, and balanced. The Allemano is pretty good looking, too. The Bertone and Pininfarina ones look rather plain, but contemporary, at least.
And I do agree, the Frua version is rather peculiar, to say the least with those headlights. I think it'll probably look good on the set of a sci-fi movie, because the Frua, somehow reminds me of the Jetsons.
Exactly the Jetsons :-)
If it had jet boosters, then I can definitely see the Frua on the set of an oldies sci-fi. That somewhat purple-ish colour emphasises that point.
