Before you stands a sports car hiding potential beyond your expectations. Good news are that I will reveal some of the secrets in this post so make yourself comfortable, grab a beer and enjoy.

In an interview the project manager Andreas Preuninger shares:

”I don’t know anybody, who gets out of this car without a giant grin in their face.”

He also explained that it was a real challenge for the whole crew to make the perfect predecessor (GT2 RS) into an even better vehicle. Setting high goals, aiming at invisible targets, walking to the edge of perfection and the non-stop hard work towards the success brought to life the GT3 RS. How did they do it. If you think that it is the years and years of motorsport experience you are absolutely correct. But that’s not all –they used and incorporated their customers feedback so the car could be exactly as they want it.

The engine in the high-revving concept

Boasting a voluminous 4.0-litre six-cylinder horizontally opposed and naturally aspirated engine packing 520 horse power. A maximum torque of 470 Nm and up to 9000 rpm makes it clear what a high-revving concept means.

The rear silencer and the tailpipers in titanium are a visible sign of what the new 911 GT3 RS is promising: pure sound, outrageous performance and irresistible challenge for the adrenaline seekers.

Did I mention that GT3 RS is road approved? This means you can go to work with this thing or pick the kids from school. Oh wait, you’re driving 2-seater. Some of the kids should take the bus.

Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)

The main thing to do on the race track: act fast. Of course, the same applies to the transmission. And that’s where Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) sets standards. With gear changes that take place in milliseconds and with no interruption in the flow of power – for acceleration figures that would impress any driver. For the 911 GT3 RS, PDK boasts an even sportier setup.

Choose between 2 modes: Intelligent Shift Program (ISP) for more immiediate and faster traction or PDK SPORT mode where downshifts under braking are more aggressive while, under acceleration, the shift points are raised to higher engine speeds

Aerodynamics and design

It is a real challenge to find the perfect balance between low drag coefficient and high downforce. The key is the successful communication between designers and engineers. One must make a fabulous car design without going away from the traditional exterior lines and details and the other must make sure to optimize the car performance.

Optimum cooling is provided by large air intakes with titanium-colored grilles incorporated in the front end and the extra air outlet ahead of the front lid.

The front spoiler lip is now even wider than the lip of the GT2 RS, and downforce has been increased as a result. The louvers on the front wings and the typical two air intake openings for the engine on the left and right in the rear side sections combine aggressive racing aesthetics with high-level functionality.

The NACA air intakes on the front lid are new. These are used to supply air to the brakes and that's without negatively affecting the drag coefficient. Their shape was developed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), the precursor to NASA. Space technology – for supreme performance in absolute proximity to the ground.

Weissach package – the ultimate fat burn

If you want to increase the engine performance and reduce the weight by 18kg you can chose the Weissach package. What’s different? The anti-roll bars, their coupling rods and the roof are made of carbon-fibre which explains how the weight is reduced. We’re not finished yet. This is just on the outside.

The roll cage is made of titanium and is 12 kg lighter than the steel roll cage of the Clubsport package (the lizard green on the left). The gearshift paddles and the steering wheel trim are made of carbon-fibre as well. And if you think that’s crazy check this out – they even made the carpet trim lighter.

The new 911 GT3 RS is nothing less than a gauntlet – thrown down to everyday life. Lightweight construction, high-rev engine and aerodynamics on another level speak a clear language – one that is understood, above all, on every race track of this world.
