Wrapping Audi Q5 in Matte Black , 2 days of patience and precision
Hi car lowers , i'm doing this from time to time just because it is really time consuming , but results are always stunning .
Q5 is painted in black metallic and before application of 3M wrap film i have done full correction of clear coat . Then after that full decontamination with alcohol . 3M is not cheap material so you have to be careful and you need to use most of cut panels in first try or you lose time and money .
Advantage of 3M wrap series 1080 is that it has drain channels for air bubbles and with simple gentle press with squege it goes out. But this is just a small portion of a job . A lot of cutting , heating with a heat gun at precise temperature , and most of all - precision .
If you can see edges it is not good , because in time they will peal of .
You need to be surgical precise with cutting , straight lines in one cut , specially around curves .
The end results are always great especially for customers .
Sometimes you need to disassemble some parts from the car to do it perfectly . But that is part of a job , if you want do make something right you need to push yourself to the max .
I will recommend to all if you have some expensive car , make a wrap ( in any color , there is plenty ) because you are saving your investment from further damaging , it's easy to maintain , you don't have to worry when you drive behind truck full of stones ( you will not chip or damage paint ) . And when it's time to sell you can sell wrapped car or simply tear off and beneath you will find perfectly preserved paint that adds on sale price .
Well , thanks for reading , se ya'll
How well does this hold up to branches and rocks? I'm thinking of getting a truck just for playing in the hills and this may hold up better than paint.
Sorry for late reply , it holds prety good. But for tipe tipe of usage it is better to use clear ot transparent wrap. Its 200 microns tick and it can be polished. Tge great benefit is that is impossible to make a scratch even vit a key or with a screwdriver.
No problem, thanks for sharing am going to look into that
