Sales of the sedan start at the end of the year
Peugeot officially introduced the new generation of its 508 sedan. The premiere of the model in front of the audience will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The design of the vehicle has received a number of elements from the Instinct and Exalt concepts. The new 508 saloon is in the second-generation i-Cockpit interior, which was also used in crossovers 3008 and 5008. In this case, the French gamble on leather, alcantara and natural wood, and the driver has a full digital instrument panel available.

Among the electronic assistants of the sedan is already included a circular video surveillance system, as well as a function of sudden stop in case of need. The volume of the boot is increased to 487 liters, and when the rear seats are down, it increases to 1537 liters.

The new Peugeot 508 is built on the EMP2 platform, thanks to which the machine is 70 kg. lighter than its predecessor. In the range of engines comes a petrol engine with a volume of 1.6 liters, which, depending on the modification develops 177 or 217 hp. The unit works in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Customers will also be able to choose between two 1.5 and 2.0 liter diesel engines, with a capacity of 128, 158 and 177 hp. At a later stage, the French manufacturer will also offer a hybrid modification that will race around 300 hp.

As the main competitor of its Peugeot 508, Volkswagen Arteon points out. The production of the sedan will take place in Europe and China and sales will start at the end of 2018.
