CAR / P0107 Error Code Fix / How To Clean Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
Over the past few months I have felt that there is a problem with my car's engine. The car had a poor acceleration and fuel economy, also a rough running engine on idle. Finally last week I got Malfunction Indicator Lamp on.
I used an Bluetooth OBD 2 interface to connect to the the ECU of my car and scaned for stored error codes
and I got this one:
P0107 - problem with the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure sensor).
You can read more at: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0107
After some research in internet I decided first to try to fix the problem before buy a new sensor. First I located the MAP sensor, it was next to the throttle body and hold by two torx bolts
I used electric parts cleaner. It is easy to use and inexpensive. I was extremely careful not to touch the actual sensor to avoid any damage. You can see the MAP Sensor before and after cleaning.
I also decided that it is good idea to clean the MAP sensor socket. I used just soap water and Q-tips
Next. The Engine Air Filter is part of the same intake air system as the MAP sensor and a new filter will improve the engine work. You can see the the difference between new and old Engine Air Filter. The replacement was easy and cheap.
I decided also to replace the spark plugs. You can see here old and new spark plug from my car standing next to each other
definitely it was about time
I assembled everything back and started the car. Now the sound of the engine is excellent, no Malfunction Indicator Lamp, no Error codes...
