The new 755hp Corvette ZR1 convertible was a big surprice!
Corvette ZR1 convertible, the first ZR1 drop-top since the original 1970 model-year ZR1, will go on sale globally around April next year alongside the coupe.

Using the coupe's same aluminium chassis, the only structural changes that the convertible sees are accommodations for the folding top and repositioned safety belt mounts, according to the carmaker.

The folding top hardware results in a weight gain of 27kg over the ZR1 Coupe. The roof mechanism can be operated while at speeds of up to 48kph.

The car has menacingly aggressive looks, huge amounts of power, along with 969Nm of torque, and even without the bright Sebring Orange colour scheme it would still stand out a mile away.

The Corvette Z06 set the standard with 650 horsepower and 881Nm, but this adds 105hp and 88Nm to bring the numbers to a ludicrous level. Official 0-100 times are not yet available but expect the ZR1 to reach 335km/h or 210mph at Vmax. Available in various different trim levels, this is the ZTK package with full high wing, splitter and lots of carbon goodies.

Chevrolet will offer the option of a seven-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic. When fitted with the automatic gearbox, the company says the ZR1 convertible can complete a quarter mile in the "high 10-second range".
