Is Capitalism Responsible For Socialist Sentiment?
There was a time when the markets shrugged off anything political. That is not the case anymore. Insurance stocks were hit hard on discussion of a proposal of "Medicare for all".
The capitalistic system is creating wealth inequality that keeps expanding. Corporations exist to reward executive and shareholders. Employees are seen as a nuisance. Companies are doing whatever they can to reduce the headcount.
With wages stagnant, few are partaking in the run in the markets. Stock buybacks use to be illegal because they were considered stock manipulation. Today, the likes of Warren Buffett feel that they are an appropriate use of capital.
This might have helped some in their 401k but did they benefit as much as those holding large amounts of stock like Buffett?
Is capitalism the cause of socialism?
