Do you FIM? @cannabisgrowers
FIM Pruning- Do you want more bud? then FIM!
FIMing is an amazing pruning technique that originated back in 2000. In that year, in the July issue of High Times, a reader from South Carolina wrote in to explain a technique that he had discovered. He thought that this pruning technique could revolutionize indoor gardening. The grower tried to pinch off the tip of the plant and said "Fuck I Missed" when he did not remove the entire bud and coined the accronym FIM.
The is a great method for indoor growing, when scrogging is used. You can keep your plant pushed down since FIMing helps control plant height and induces side branching of the main stem. This is great for growers with rooms with low ceilings. You can increase your bud count considerably with a just a little pruning. We FIMed our Lemon Skunk and take a look, you can see it was worth it...
Day 21 of Bloom!!
So how does it work?
It really is a simple technique. All you do is instead of topping your plant(cutting 100% of the whole node off cleanly) you cut 90% of the node and leave 10% intact. So instead of the 2 new stalks below the chopped node, you get when topping your plant, you can get up to 8 more branches possibly emerging. You can see the benefit of that.....MORE BUD! What happens is when you remove the growing tip, it causes the cells to divide as much as it can at a fast rate in different directions.
3 FIM simple Steps
Find the location of new growth.
Using a pair of scissors of tweezers, fold the fan leaves open and cut 90% of the new growth.
After a couple of days you will see the new growth has multiplied creating more bud
This is also a great way to get more clone opportunity off of your mothers!!
I found these 3 great vids on the internet of FIMing too to see it close up. Like any other technique we learn, it will take some trial and error. So go get your hands dirty and start Fucking Missing!!!!!!
