Prime Minister calls for exchange of research to get the benefits of blue economy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said that in order to achieve the benefits of the blue economy, to build capacity and to take technology, research and good initiative, different regional organizations will need cooperation outside their region.

The Prime Minister said this while taking part in a session titled "a more prosperous future (Commonwealth Blue Charter)" on the opening day of the 25th meeting of the Commonwealth Government Chief (CHOGM) here on Thursday, he said. .

He said Bangladesh fully supports accepting the Commonwealth Blue Certificate. As a member of the coastal Bangladesh of the Bay of Bengal, and as a member of BIMSTEC, SAARC and IORA, we are relentlessly supporting the blue economy for sustainable management of our oceans, seas and marine resources. Sheikh Hasina said that many of the innovative initiatives, including the Blue Charter Action Fund and the formation of Blue Champions, are mentioned in this charter. I believe that member states will make this charter work as effective as possible.

Speaking about 'a more prosperous future (Commonwealth Cyber ​​declaration)', Sheikh Hasina said that the development of ICT sector is a national priority in Bangladesh, which has already achieved the vision of Digital Bangladesh. He said, "We believe that the use of information and communication technologies and the ability to create digital capabilities, poverty reduction, sustainable development and overall growth is the beginning of the achievement."

Sheikh Hasina said that in the world where our economies are becoming increasingly dependent on free flow of information and information flow, there should be an open, dynamic, and secure Internet in our global information ecosystem to promote 'openness' in different countries, sectors and entities.

In this case, he cautioned that at the same time tackling the cyber attacks and the threat of terrorism propaganda through the Internet is also important for our future generations.
Welcoming the Commonwealth Cyber-announcement, the Prime Minister said the principles and guidelines for cyber-governance cooperation are very important as per the outline of the announcement.

He urged the Commonwealth Secretariat to prepare the appropriate action plan by consulting member states in a quick implementation of this announcement.
He said, 'We want to make technical and expertise exchange and build capacity as a priority for our people.'
