I have watched numerous YT video's and to me it seems that they are mostly covering their A..es. Which impacts the average person a lot. I can not imagine the impact on local stores when the power is out for days at a time.

Yes, ADSL is powered by the phone company like a normal phone line. The trick is to power your router/wifi as well. I just turn off the router when I'm not using it so the UPS lasts.
