My ASUS Laptop Needs a New Battery...
So, I ordered the parts and they arrived today. (Needs a new keyboard to) I expected a 15-20 minute fix based on my last ASUS which also required a battery and fan update. A couple of screws and some dusting and it was like new.
Right before I decided to replace the battery, I decided it would be a good idea to watch a quick video...
Haha, I guess they are no longer made to be simple to switch out. The video is long and scary and you have to take the whole damn thing apart.
I've decided to go ahead and try it, I've backed everything up, but who knew it could possibly be this hard?
I'm annoyed!

Most of new laptops are tiny and hard to remove battery itself too! How foolish those designers! Hope you made it happen!

Ebay has some cheap batteries. Have you ever considered a Chromebook?
There are two things I would like to see in every laptop review. 1) how easy is it to do basic maintenance and upgrades (replace hard drive, battery, RAM) and 2) Does it have sufficient cooling to run at 100% CPU/GPU without throttling. In the past, I always loved Dell's because they were among the easiest to work on and get parts for. Not sure how true that is today.
They dont want you to fix it. That is why they are making repairs more and mote difficult.
Same thing happened in the auto industry. We need to support manufacturers who dont use these shady buisiness tactics to increase year over year sales.

Why would they ever make a part that commonly dies within a few months to years on pretty much every laptop easy to replace? That's just stupid. You make it a pain in the ass to replace, then normal people, lazy as they are, will just pay your techs to do it, or even just get a new laptop.
Yeah, it's intimidating.
That's crazy .... the only reason to put the battery in like that is so that its too hard for the average person to replace.

Maybe time to switch to a macbook pro?
Macbooks are worst as they too eventually lose battery life and it is even more expensive to change as an Apple approved place needs to replace.

Modern Macbook Pros are probably among the hardest laptops to work on. Unfortunately, this is trend that is catching on.
Looks like a nice laptop. Easier than this MacBookPro I own.
