This Vegan Restaurant Donates 100% of Its Profits & Hires People in Need
New York’s trendy new vegan restaurant P.S. Kitchen, is completely changing the game when it comes to encouraging social change. Not only does their plant-based menu, use a more sustainable food system, they also address two other complex issues: homelessness and poverty.
The restaurant offers a quick casual dining experience, serving things like wraps, salads, smoothies and juices and they’ve got three locations in New York. 100% of their profits go to nonprofits that provide job training, shelter for the homeless and transitional housing. But that's not all, P.S. Kitchen takes it a step further, by then hiring the same people receiving the aid.
So far, they’ve contributed $1.2 million to various charities over the last year, including some they’ve partnered with, during the hiring process. P.S. Kitchen’s mission: statement reflects just that, “We commit our energy, passion, and time to giving others a ‘hand up’ rather than a ‘hand out.'”
Next time I'm in Manhattan, I'll make a point of visiting this place. With such an amazing concept, I hope it is thriving! I owned a restaurant on 26th St. some years ago and know how competitive operating a restaurant in NYC is.
