Gratitude Day 24/62: Happy New Month

Happy New Month to all the citizens of Steem land.
It's day 24 of the gratitude day challenge and I'm glad to cross into this new month. Today I'm grateful that the month of May ended well and that I made it into the month of June.

June is a really special month for many reasons. It's the sixth month of the year. This is when people start realising that they have gotten to the middle of the year. Time to do a little evauluation and appraisal. I heard that it is the choice month for getting married. I don't know if it has anything to do with the cold weather, Lol... June is a very historically significant month. I would dare to say that it is the second best month of the year after July. That is just my biased opinion. There are many reasons why the month of June is very significant and I have listed seven of them below.

• June 21st is the longest day of the year.

• The month of June is very important to Nigerians. In June 12, 1993, the presidential election which was already in favor of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola was annulled.

• Many other countries also celebrate days of national importance to them. The Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Djibouti , Mozambique, and Seychelles celebrate their independence from the British in the month of June. The US celebrates her flag day on the 14th of June and Finland celebrates theirs on 24th of June.

• It was in the month of June in the year 1872 that women took the first step to demand their right to vote in elections. Although they got arrested and fined for their action, this movement led by Susan Anthony paved the way for more demand for women right to vote.

_{What is Gratitude Day?}

Gratitudeday is all about being thankful for the things that are happening in your life. A lot of us go through life taking things for granted. The goal is to challenge you to make a blog post about something you are grateful for. It could be big or small. It doesn't matter. Little things matter. I'll be doing this for 62 days (62 is not a random number). It's not an endurance game, you can join in anytime you want and opt out anytime you want.
