The Golden Age Of STEEM Is Ahead Of Us
I lifted the term "golden age of STEEM" from one of @fulltimegeek's comments. It was something that struck a chord with me.
There is no secret to my optimism about STEEM. This blockchain has enormous potential. The creativity and innovation we see from developers here is simply amazing.
Many are complaining about the Hard Fork. Yes, there were issues which are a pain in the ass. It is time to get over it. In a week or two, all will be back in working order. However, we will have made major strides forward.
I keep mentioned the onboarding of users by applications other than Steemit. This is huge. Not only are we breaking away from the thumb of Steemit which was very slow in this process, we are also seeing a step towards decentralization. Now, there are other avenues responsible for signups other than STEEM (I know there were a few alternatives but now the apps are free to sign up who they see fit).
However, that is not the only that is application. Before, we were in the stone age with how we operated. Anyone who runs a business like we were obligated to run our STEEM account would be out of business. It was simply archaic.
People are wondering what the Resource Credit deal is all about. Let me ask you a question: is knowing what things cost important in running a department, business, or even nation? While many ignore it, I believe it is something worthy. The Hard Fork gave us the ability to know what we are dealing with.
Here are my stats off steem.supply. Notice how @dragosoura added the Resource Credits to replace bandwidth AND the breakdown of what that gets. This is vital. According to my present recharge, I am allowed approximately 917 posts, 4,340 votes, and 4,822 transfers. Based upon this, I can tell that posting uses up about 5 times more than transfers. This makes total sense but it is good to know. Now we have a quantifiable situation from which to operate.
Another thing this does is to make the system more equitable. Under the old, the lower valued tasks subsidized the higher ones. Now, there is a system where each is charged appropriately (after the system reaches equilibrium). Everything is accounted for.
Those who post a great deal more content use up more of the blockchain's resources. It only makes sense that those individuals be "charged" more. Those who come on here using less resources, such as a payment system, will thus be "charged" a great deal less.
The reason for this is because, even though there are no direct transaction costs, there are costs associated with them. The blockchain requires resources to operate. Now, we know how much each activity costs and applications can plan accordingly.
Once the applications start figure this system out, they will have the opportunity to reach outside the STEEM ecosystem. This is where the blockchain could see serious growth. It is also where we can transition from being a blockchain based ecosystem to one centered around the applications.
There is a simple reason for this. No marketer in the world is going to try and market the blockchain. That is absurd. One cannot even come up with a basic tenet (goal) of the plan. What is STEEM and what is the goal? It is evolving on a monthly basis. If one cannot answer something as simple as this, then creating a plan is impossible.
This is not the case for the applications. They have a goal in mind. It is easy to see. Based upon this, we can determine the target market, tactics employed, and tonality of our marketing.
I believe we are going to see a big step forward in the next 6 months. The growth this blockchain is going to experience will turn some heads. HF20 was important to get passed. While not fully resolved, we are on the other side and, for the most part, still in business.
Once things settle down, I believe most will see how the new system is advantageous to all of us.

Can't wait to be STEEM rich!
Me 2. :)
Yep , the goldenage is coming
Thanks for this post. It helps me a lot "to clean" my frustration today...
Still one thing is not clear to me, aside of the Lack of information we have... and it is the following:
How can we attract more users and how can we retent them?
We need a plan and I think we would need as well promoters, commercials and the like...and I am starting to think that it would not be a bad idea to create "a fund" to, somehow, pay professionals on that matter...
We, the steemians, are doing a great effort in order to attract, mainly family, friends and, sometimes other stakeholders but I think we cannot work individually, we have to work as a team here...
an action plan would be perfect...and leadership as yours...

I think the way this is working demonstrates how undervalued Steem actually is as the amount of scale achieved by adding SP allows you to do much more and leverage it. While potentially tough for beginners, I assume it will incentivized better engagement across the platform.
Nice to see a post like this. It was a necessary transition. Now for SMT's
I'm powering down just to be somewhat liquid but I have been disappointed by the hardfork and its effects. I'll gladly power up again of this issue goes away in a few weeks but I can see why people are disappointed. Lets hope steem works out. I'll stick around and see what happens in the short term.
