Fisheries and Livestock Department has announced a ban on fishing in Padma, Meghna and various rivers in the breeding season to stop the mother's hilsa till 28 October. At the time, the government announced the release of unemployed fishermen as subsidy. The government has got allocation of fishermen from different places. However, about 4,000 registered jails of Padmapar of Shubnagar in Pabna did not get one kilogram of rice in the jail.

Sujangor fishermen are hunting the mother hilsa in the river Padma, ignoring the sanctions without subsidizing the subsidy. And 5 to 10 fishermen are arrested in the hands of the authorities concerned and for going to jail for the purpose of hunting mother hilsa, ignoring the government ban. Many of them are being fined without penalty.

It is learned that about 4 thousand registered fishermen in different villages including Satbariya, Tarbaria, Kamarhat, Goveria and Nazirganj are in the upazila. These fishermen produce livelihood by hunting different fish including fish and fish in the river Padma. Especially in the breeding season of the hilsa, because of the availability of enough hilsa fish in the river Padma, they are thinking about the lack of financial help and the hilsa fish.
