When My Do Not Visits Go
Dalam salah satu rubrik di www.konsultasisyariah.com, ada satu pertanyaan yang menarik. Meskipun ketertarikan itu sifatnya relatif, setidaknya, kita bisa menjadikannya sebagai bahan kajian untuk catatan akhir pekan. Barangkali, Anda juga pernah mengalami permasalahan yang sama.
Teks pertanyaanya, “Assalamu’alaikum Ustadz. Saya mau bertanya,,,kalau mau tanya ketika ada pengajian, saya malu ustadz, makanya saya tanya di forum-forum dunia maya. Pertanyaan : Kenapa do’a saya tidak langsung dikabulkan oleh Allah, sementara saya juga sudah semaksimal mungkin bertakwa kepada-Nya? Do’a saya yaitu minta agar mendapatkan harta kekayaan melimpah.”
Saya yakin, setiap orang menginginkan kehidupan bahagia. Hanya saja, standardnya berbeda-beda. Namun, umumnya, kekayaan biasanya menjadi standard baku utama. Karena itu, banyak orang yang mencantumkannya dalam doa mereka.
Ada beberapa hal yang bisa kita jadikan catatan penting terkait kasus yang disampaikan penanya.
Pertama, banyak orang yang mempertanyakan, “Bukankah Allah telah berjanji bahwa Dia akan mengabulkan setiap doa yang dipanjatkan hamba-Nya? Mengapa masih banyak orang yang berdoa kepada-Nya, dan tak kunjung dikabulkan?”
Pertanyaan di atas merupakan bukti keimanan kita kepada firman Allah,
أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
"I grant the request of the one who prays, when he prays to me ..." (Q.S. Al-Baqarah: 186)
Or his word,
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
"Your Lord (Allah) says, 'Ask Me, I will give you an ijabah. In fact, those who are arrogant in their worship (that is, they do not want to pray) to me, they will go to hell in a despicable state. '"(Q.S. Ghafir: 60)
One important principle that we must hold, that all the word of God is true, God's promise is true, and He will not disagree on His promise. We must believe this, whatever the circumstances. Furthermore, regarding the promise of God in the above verse and the reality that we witness in daily life, the scholars have given the answer:
In the above verse, Allah promises to people who pray with ijabah or istijabah, not with i'tha. It is necessary to distinguish between istijabah (استجابة) or ijabah (إجابة) with i'tha (إعطاء). The more precise word "ijabah" or "istijabah" in our language is not 'giving' or 'making things happen,' but more generally. The word "respond" is a more appropriate way to translate the two words. What we understand from the word "respond", is not always in the form of giving seseuatu desired. To the extent of giving good attention, it can be called "respond".
Related to the above meanings, sometimes, God has given the ijabah for our prayer, but we know its form because of "good response" to the prayer of its various forms. As mentioned in the hadith, from Abu Said radhiallahu 'anhu the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said,
ما من مسلم يدعو الله بدعوة ليس فيها مأثم و لا
قطيعة رحم إلا أعطاه إحدى ثلاث : إما أن
يستجيب له دعوته أو يصرف عنه من السوء
مثلها أو يدخر له من الأجر مثلها
"It is not a Muslim who prays, and his prayer does not contain sin or breaks friendship, unless God will give one of three replies: (1) God grants his prayer, (2) Allah shuns him from the misfortune of his prayer, and (3) Allah keeps in the form of a reward for him in the Hereafter. "(Ahmad, Turmudzi, and Judge, judged by Musthafa Al-Adawi)
Some scholars say that the meaning of "prayer" above is 'worship'. God promised to grant the worship of His servant by giving rewards from every worship received.
In fact, the promise that God gives is a conditional promise. That is, only qualified prayers will be granted by God. In addition, God may not grant it.
Secondly, generally people believe that something he asks is the best thing for him.
In fact, not necessarily it is good for him, in the knowledge of Allah ta'ala. Therefore, sometimes, God withholds our prayer, because it is better for us, than God gives us what we want. Allah says,
وَعَسَى أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ وَعَسَى أَنْ
تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا
تَعْلَمُونَ
"It could be that you hate something, which is good for you. Sometimes too, you love something, but it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know. "(Q.S. Al-Baqarah: 216)
This section is important to understand, so that we do not fall prejudiced to God, when we feel our prayers do not go unanswered. We must always be sure that God knows better the best for us because He created man and He is the perfect Essence of His knowledge. As a manufacturer of a product, in general, he knows better the best form of treatment for his product than the user.
Believe me, Allah is Great with His servant. Only, not all forms of God's love can we know. Not all His affection, He manifests in the form of sustenance. Nor is it in the form of a granted prayer. Be patient ... perhaps, not yet the chance you get.
Third, do not despair in praying.
Generally, humans are impatient with their desires. All hope, as much as possible, his wishes can be realized instantly. Or at least, not waiting for a long time. This kind of principle has a bad effect when we pray and then it does not come. Usually, boredom appears and despair. In fact, you need to know, despair is one cause your prayers are not granted. The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,
يُسْتَجَابُ لأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ يَقُولُ دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ
يُسْتَجَبْ لِى
"Your prayers will be granted as long as not in a hurry. He said, 'I have been praying for a long time, but have not been granted.' "(H.R. Bukhari and Muslim)
In Muslim history, he said,
لا يَزَالُ يُسْتَجابُ لِلْعَبْدِ مَا لَمْ يَدْعُ بإثم أو قَطِيعَةِ
رَحِمٍ ما لم يستعجلْ ، قيل : يا رَسول الله ، ما
الاستعجال ؟ قال : يقول : قد دعوتُ ، وقد دَعَوتُ
فلم أرَ يستجيب لي ، فَيَسْتَحْسِرُ عند ذلك
ويَدَعُ الدعاءَ
"The ceaseless prayer of a servant will be granted, as long as it is not a sinful prayer or breaking of friendship, and unhurried prayer." The Companions asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is hastened in prayer?' He replied, The man said, 'I have prayed ... I have prayed ... but I feel I have never been granted.' Then he despaired and left his prayer. "(Muslim)
Fourth, do not expect to get the world with the worship we do.
Though we believe that the rewards that God gives for the worshipers are sometimes manifested in the world. However, do not make this your primary goal for obedience. If not, you can be accused as a tendentious person in worship. Allah says,
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ
خَيْرٌ اطْمَأَنَّ بِهِ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ انْقَلَبَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ
خَسِرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْخُسْرَانُ الْمُبِينُ
"And among men there are those who worship God on the periphery. When he obtains goodness (wealth), he is more convinced of his worship, and if he is stricken by disaster, turn back (apostasy). She be unfortunate in the world and in the hereafter. That is a clear loss. "(Q.S. Al-Hajj: 11)
Of course, we do not want to be among those God sneers in the above verse. People who obey obedience because of world and world tendencies. Indeed, very unfortunate, when the worship we do is paid only with a glimpse in the world. Therefore, remember a more valuable reply in the afterlife.
