What gives me energy on the steem blockchain?

Well you probably all did expect a friendship post, but I won't be writing this post this week. I was thinking about writing about my vote selling via smartsteem during my absence, but then again I have to fire up excel to do the calculations but I am fed up a little bit with Excel due to the World Cup registrations :)

So, at my ride home from work I was thinking about the things that gives me energy on the Steem blockchain and maybe I will add also some things I dislike! Make a little bit influenced by the 30 days writing challenge from @dragosroua

So here we go:

What does gives me energy here in the Steem Ecosystem?

Interaction

Well I do like to interact. I do this via writing my post, where I do offer others a chance to interact with me or the other commenters, of via writing genuine comments on posts that did interest me!
Interaction is the fuel of the steem eco system! Forget the money part for a moment! Imagine a steem blockchain without the rewards. Still it would be a great place to be. For me this is the combination of Reddit, blogs, facebook and even Twitter!
I do write on average 250 comments per week! Yep, I know I am crazy and none of these comments are "great post", "interesting" (@abh12345 :)) and so on. Each are real genuine comments on the post, where I do agree or disagree, where I could have a different point of view than the other or just not!
I could write more comments, but sometimes it feels like spamming the author. Take for instance @taskmaster4450 and @tarazkp who do write multiple posts per day. Most of them are intriguing to me, but when I would wrote a comment on all of the them, they could get the idea that I am just there for the money, which I am not.
Taskmaster assured me, that he doesn't see it this way and that he appreciates all genuine comments!
And he is right because a real genuine comment, could be a gift! It is really dark here in the beginning!

Connecting people!

Well most of you know that I am all over the blockchain. So sometimes I do spot posts, where I don't have a connection with but I would know for sure that some of the people I know here would have. So, in that case I will try to connect the people, it is up to them what they do with it or not!
Just like I did receive an interesting comment from @tradergurl on my portfolio post! While I did have an opinion on the matter, I did knew somebody else which could give a much better and more funded answer than I could give. So, I asked @crypto2crypto for some help! Which he did. It was great to see interaction taking place at my post, without that I need to get involved! Both thanks for this!

Communities!

All my effort I put in the @sbcbot community gives me energy. And believe me it is a lot of effort I do put in, for sure now with the World Cup Contest! Mainly I am trying to get us noticed, which is hard enough. For sure, when you have to combine sports betting and a bot :).
People did unfollow me because of me sports betting related post, which I can understand and respect. People should follow me voluntarily! I will never ask for a follow back, while I would appreciate it! I did ask one why he did unfollow me and I did get a respectful and decent answer! @krnel I do respect your point of view and action!
But back to the community. What is really great about communities, besides that we share some common interest and that everybody is friendly and helpful, is that everybody does has extra value in it! Each one of the community members bring a special kind of expertise to a community, from supporters to educators, from sponsors to organizers and so on. This is valid for all communities!

But there are also pitfalls with communities. It is good to see that more communities are formed on the Steem blockchain! But we have to make sure not to isolate us within such a community. While I do feel at home in the steem betting community, I still want to discover new people and things. I do want to read and comment on articles from psychology towards what works on the Steem ecosystem!
Make sure that the community doesn't become an upvote friend circle jerk! Is it normal than most of your voting will be spend on the community and there is for sure nothing wrong with that, that even one of the reasons they do exist, but make sure to explore the blockchain and also keep some dry powder at hand for people you didn't know and so on, I do hope you get the picture!

Tips and advice

I do like that the steem blockchain is full of tips and advice! Ranging from becoming a millionair towards what to do with the garden. I could mention lots of people and articles in here but that list would become endless! I could dare you to come up with a topic or niche, where there don't exist any tips on, but knowing most of you, you will comment dozen of these, so I won't :)

Getting connected with people

Well this is not directly related with the steem blockchain, because more is needed than only Steem. While I did enter the steem ecosystem and lots of people were mentioning discord, I did not see the added value! Until I did install discord!
Chatting with people on discord brings a complete new dimension. I did learn things about people (@cicbar) which I would never have known without discord! People are really opening up there! At least if both sides are willing to! I could also mention @abh12345, @stimp1024, @beat-the-bookies or @costanza here.
All are always helpful!

Now the dislikes!

I will try to keep it short!

Spam comments

I really hate it when I do receive these or when I do see these at posts from other authors!
If you don't have read the article than don't comment!
If you did not have read the requirement of a contest, than don't enter. This for sure is really frustrating. I can understand that people do make a mistake but this is real time consuming for the organizor!

Reputation

It don't mind the reputation on itself but how we humans do see it.
If we see a post of of rep above 60 we are more likely to comment than if the same post would be written by a starting Steemian with a rep of 25! We just hope that the success will drop down on us.
Also lots of people think that a rep 25 will not have lots of steem power (while he could have converted lots of assets into steem) or do think that a rep 60 is rich in steem terms! Both are not always true!
I do my utmost best and try to ignore the reputation, the only rep I do try to avoid are the ones below 20.

Running out of voting power

This happens to me all the time! Probably because I do act like a whale but my Steem Power still reminds me that I am just plankton in the Steem Ocean!

It is addictive!

The title says it all!

If you are still reading here! Thanks for keeping focus! I did good for myself to write this down!

So, I guess that, while I had some doubts if I did see a future for myself on the steem blockchain some time ago, I can conclude that I am here to stay!

What are your feelings about the steem ecosystem?
Sorry I have left out some names, this was not intentionally :(

Keep the faith,
Peter

Sort:

Interaction is all that matters for me. By discussing about different things with interesting people (you are one of them) is what keeps me on Steemit.

Cannot agree more. Never thought I would be so connected to people via the web!
Regardless of the platform. Coming to Steem was a very wise decision of me!

Don't worry about the names, you squeezed a few good ones in there! :D

I think to keep the fires burning, you soon need to look beyond the $ to keep your energy up.

Getting involved in communities of interest is certainly a good plan, and although SBC is currently quite small, this allows you guys to get well-versed and work as a team to grow.

Right on regarding reputation, it's a total illusion these days (it was to a point in the past also). And yeah, no-one likes low VP!

It is always on ongoing battle. One wat or the other we came all to the platform attracted by the money part. While I never look if a comment scored an upvote or not I do keep an eye on my balance!
I do think that it will become easier to really look beyond the money part when I do reach minnow status!!
But you know that people do underestimate the time and effort we put into the platform.
If I have to count the hours the contest takes and compare this with the earnings of the post, I could better quit 😩 I guess that the same would have been valid for you to in the beginning of your leagues!

As long as you are getting some value, be it money or personal worth, then all is well.

The leagues have never been of financial value to me, and I suspect that will always be the case. When you don't vote for yourself, and give out half your Steem power for nothing, you're pretty much considered an idiot by some!

That wont deter me though, and I feel a lot of personal worth for acting in a way I see as positive for many.

Cheers!

I really agree with the rep. I feel like along with we tend to look at post which have bigger payouts and most of the time it's just people paying for bots. Sometimes when I have time I try to just find random posts where you can see the effort was there and try and connect with people.

Keep up the good work I'm trying to comment a bit more as well and interact rather then just posting myself.

Thats the way to go. For us lots more money could be made with commenting than with writing posts!
Just make sure that they are genuine!
Do you already participate in @abh12345 engagement league, this is a must do!
Don’t focus on the upvotes but focus on the interaction!
The upvotes will come! I can assure you!

@fullcoverbetting I haven't heard of it! I will definitely check it out tomorrow morning when I get a chance.. assuming what I think it is by the name seems like something I'd really enjoy! cheers :D

For sure you must :)

What are your feelings about the steem ecosystem?

I kinda found my digital home here.

I'm no longer active on the other sites that I used to be in the past, all my free time is dedicated to the SBC right now. From time to time, I get frustrated, but in general, I'm a happy camper.

You did a good job listing the pros & cons, I have nothing to add to it.

Thanks. It felt good to write it down! Cleared up my mind!

Steem for its beta phase so far is great. There's many problems though, as you mentioned that only the promoted post with paid bots make it to the top post. It'd be better if that wasn't the case.
I don't get exactly how rep works.

You reputation increase if someone with a high rep upvotes your comment or post.
The bigger the difference between your rep and the rep from the upvotes the bigger the impact on your reputation!
Yes there are some problems, but still it is a great place to be!
If you have any other questions about Steem, feel free to ask!

Just remember you are in the top 10% still even with less steempower. And keep up with good work. You know if your project get big can you make a site version say like dtube but for sport betting? That would be cool...

Thanks. That would be great but it will take some time!
Building a community is harder than it looks. Everybody wants to interact with the old goats, while we old goats dream that they also would interacts with each other. Only if this starts to happen the community can be considered a success!

I love the interaction. It is super addictive for me as well. I also comment constantly and leave long comments. I keep seeing my bandwidth going down and I get scared. I am somewhat new here so I dont fully understand exactly how the bandwith works, buy it does always go back up in the end. I do look at reputation but not in the way that you mentioned. I try avoid the whales. Not because I don't like them. Just because I seem to find a lot more interesting writing from average people. Now, I'm not saying that none of the whales write interesting content. I am just saying that I see way more original content from Rep 60 and below. A big portion of the whales just talk about steem, crypto, bots, and contests. I have read enough of that already. I love the ability to create that steemit has to offer so I tend to seek out creativity a lot. I still need to get discord figured out so I can get in on the action. Getting exposure on here is tough and I'm not one of those who feels comfortable spamming for it.

The bandwith is related with how many steem you have. The more steem you have the more bandwith will be available for you!
For sure in the beginning this can be a real pain in the ass! Can remember these days very well. Writing a great comment and not being able to post it due to bandwith problems!
A genuine comment could never be considered as spam! I had a discussion with on of the wintered steemains and explained that I didn't comment on each of his post because I did consider this spamming him. He did assured that a genuine comment is one of the greatest signs of appreciation an author can receive!
Probably there will also be whales or Orcas around who do post about the niches you are interested in, but it is hard to find on the blockchain.
The best way to do this, is to do as follows:
Suppose you are interested into music, than use the following url:
https://steemit.com/trending/music
This will bring you to the trending page of music. Let's assume you only want the new posts, than you change the trending in the url into "created". So that it becomes: https://steemit.com/created/music
The music can be replaced by any possible word: for instance sport. So let's take a look at the hot posts about sport, therefor we do need the following url:
https://steemit.com/hot/sport
This way you will discover some great steemians who do pot about your niches!

Nice. Thanks for the great reply. So I just need to build more steem to get my bandwidth up. I am going to try the URL thing. I usually just use the check boxes. I have also had good luck by looking who other like minded people follow. I hate the trending page. That's what I did in the beginning and most of it is garbage. In the beginning this made me feel like steemit was garbage until I searched a little deeper to find good content. Its here but I just had to dig through all of the trash for it. Hopefully in the future people like us, who bring value, will dominate the trending page.

Always great to see real interactions, even if they do not agree. You are a great example of that.

Thanks @crypto2crypto it is indeed all that matters!
Don’t forget that you still have to enter the world cup contest!
Which also could be something for you is the @investorsclub, you would be a real added value that club also!

I would, but i would be throwing away money lol. I have no clue

Just pick 3 countries from each pot. Assign the coeffient (12, 11 and 10 to the countries from pot 1 and so on)!
And you can have a winner 😁
Entry is free!
