1. Victory Monument
Heute beginnt unsere Street Food Tour am Victory Monument in Bangkok. Das Victory Monument wurde 1941 erbaut zum Gedenken an den Sieg Thailands im Krieg gegen die Franzosen. Das Monument befindet sich im Zentrum des größten Verkehrsknotenpunkt.

Our food tour begins on the Victory Monument in Bangkok today. The Victory Monument was erected in 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War. The monument is in central Bangkok, at the centre of a traffic circle.

In Thailand gibt es eine Regel: Wo sich viele Menschen aufhalten, gibt es auch etwas zu essen.

Am Monument findet man daher einen wahren Street Food Hub. Man könnte theoretisch den ganzen Tag da verbringen und sich einfach rundum durchessen.

There is an important rule in Thailand you should remember: Wherever there’s lots of people, there’s always lots of food.
So the area around the monument is well known as a street food hub. If you like, you can spend the whole day eating there.

Nordöstlich des Kreisverkehrs findet man die sogenannte Guai Thiau Rue (Boot Nudel) Gasse, in der man eine große Auswahl an leckeren Nudelsuppen hat.

On the northeast side of the traffic circle is the famous boat noodle soi, where you can choose from a variety of Thai boat noodle restaurants. Actually there are many Sois where you can find delicious treasures.

Wie du hinkommst: Nimm die BTS Skytrain zum Victory Monument und laufe am Ausgang # 3 oder # 4 raus.

How to get there: Take the BTS Skytrain to Victory Monument station, Exit #3 or #4.

2. Banglamphu

Banglamphu ist das Gebiet in der Nähe des Königspalastes und dem Chao Phraya Fluss in Bangkok. Es ist auch als Backpacker Area bekannt. Man findet dort nicht nur günstige Unterkünfte, aber vor allem massenhaft Street Food Stände, klassische Thai Restaurants und kleinere Bistros, die einem an Thailand von vor einem Jahrhundert erinnern.

Banglamphu is the area near the Golden Palace and around the river, which is also well known as the backpacker area. You will not only find cheap accommodations over there, but also plenty great eating choices.
Some of the best street food stalls, classic and old-school restaurants which remind me on the old Thailand.

Du kannst da eigentlich nichts falsch machen, wenn du einfach deiner Nase folgst und auf dein Bauchgefühl hörst.

You can’t do anything wrong when you just close your eyes and just let their nostrils do the navigating.

Wie du hinkommst: Am einfachsten ist es mit einem Taxi, aber du kannst auch mit dem Boot Bussen fahren vom Saphan Taksin zu Phra Athit Peer. Mit dem boot kostet es ca. 15 Baht.

How to get there: You can either take a taxi or boat from Saphan Taksin to Phra Athit pier. Go by boat should cost about 15 Baht.

3. Bang Khun Non

Bang Khun Non besteht sozusagen aus einer Street Food Verkäufer und Restaurantbesitzer Community und ist dafür bekannt, dass dort das Essen qualitativ einen sehr hohen Standard entspricht. Es ist dennoch Street Food und total bezahlbar.

Bang Khun Non is known as an area existing of a community of Thai food vendors whose serve Bangkok’s highest quality of street food.

In Bang Khun Non habe ich bisher den besten Som Tam Boo Maa (Papayasalat mit riesen Krabbe) gegessen. Isaan Food ist in diesem Gebiet am authentischsten.

In Bang Khun Non I’ve eaten one of the best Som Tam Boo Maa (papaya salad with giant crab). You can also find really authentic Isan food over there.

Wie du hinkommst: Da es im Thon Buri Gebiet liegt, kommst du am Besten mit einem Taxi dahin.

How to get there: Bang Khun Non is located in the Thonburi area of Bangkok. Best way to get there is by taxi.
