Sndbox Summer Camp: Final Quest - Step One
This post will be very short. We could make all the necessary arrangements over the discord channel we have set up but, in order to keep the summer camp as transparent and public as possible, let´s put every step we take on the blockchain, agreed?
The previous Quest was about projects. Most of you got involved with the selection of the winning projects and it was with a reason... This Final Quest is about pre-developing these projects.
So, potential summer campers, here is the deal, so far we have four amazing projects ready to be incubated, supported and launched - if you work hard on them - so, this first step is about picking a project to participate in.
Note that this first step is only to CHOOSE which project would you like to get involved in, not to actually start developing it... just PICK the one you would like to participate in.
Speak Freely TV
CELF - Steem Powered art and culture
Alexandria´s library project
Steemit´s first NGO
The Steem Times - A blockchain based newspaper - No leader yet
Mistery Project 1: A project idea by one of your fellow campers
Mistery Project 2: A project idea by Sndbox
Free Project: A project that can be developed from scratch by those who decide to join this team
Now I know you might have some questions right now.
First, take into account that the first 4 projects will be lead by the person who came up with them, bear in minf that if you decide to join the team of one of these projects, you will have to eventually work with that person and work with that idea.
The project number five does not have a leader but as you can see, the idea is already there and some key points have to be met with the realization of this project. If you want to be the team leader or develop an idea that has room for any proposition, this is your project.
Projects 6 and 7 are yet to be revealed - which will be once we have the team ready. So if you are not convinced by any of the previous ideas, you can gamble and pick one of these two projects and work with whatever idea it is given to you.
Project 8 is for those who have an idea or see potential somewhere in our Steemcosystem. Bear in mind that if you pick this project you will have to come up with a viable project and develop it while the other projects already have an idea, so be certain you will have less time compared with the other teams.
This is not a trick question and we won´t base any decision on which project you choose, so pick freely and without hesitation.
Rule 1 - None of the 8 teams can have MORE than 2 persons from the same Quest. We want every project to have people that think differently from one another. We are hoping the teams are as varied as possible so the sinergy between the team is maximized.
Example: The best team will be the one that has and enthusiast from the travel, food and homestead Quest, the think out of the box people with photography and filmmaking Quest, the thinkers with philosophy and sociology, the dedicated ones with writing, a creative Steemian from the art quest and an entrepreneur from the project quest.
Not every project has to have one person from each quest and some projects can have more than one person from the other quests, but to be clear: A team with more strengths covered is more likely to develop an awesome project.
Rule 2 - There can´t be two Steemians from the same country on the same project. This is because we want the team members to think differently from each other.
How do you pick your project? Just state it in the comment section. Make sure to check out who is already on that project so you can fulfill rules 1 and 2.
I highly encourage you to not discuss with anyone which project you are picking until you comment it here. Why? Well, I like misterious people :D
You have 24 hours to pick a project, choose wisely.
In exactly 24 hours, @guyfawkes4-20 will post the Step Two of this Quest. After that, the Quest will run for 7-8 full days. Be on the lookout for his post.
Note: You have to have won a previous Sndbox quest in order to join this one, any comment from someone not eligible will be ignored :(
Steemit´s first NGO
My choice is this project. The topic is close to me. The area I live in has a lot of problems and I hope to change something here. Because I don't want to leave my village looking for a better life. I want people to be able to live with dignity where they are, to have equal opportunities to realize their creativity, their ideas, as well as residents of big cities.
Actually i feel closer to myself "Steemit´s first NGO" project and i choose this project. I hope i will be helpful for the group. [ ( photography contest ) Turkiye ]
Edit - (original response below)
If anyone's interested in going down route 8:
I do want to develop a 'Steemsociology' project - which involves developing methods and doing systematic research to provide a deeper insight into steem and its differential social impacts.
This is inspired by the fact that none of us here can answer either of these Qs authoritatively - 1. What is the class/ gender/ age/ ethnicity/ locality of the witnesses? 2. Why are there so many dead accounts?
There are many more such Qs...
If there's inteterest I can spend half my holiday (half term next week!) thrashing out a few ideas about how the project might enfold... steem lit review n cataloguing of good data posts already done/ liasing with the data guys - @abh12345 etc. / what we do and dont know/ what qs we want to try and answer... potential uses of interviews/ surveys etc..
I thought I may as well put it out there - the idea to use this as a spur only ocurred to me a couple of days ago.
And let's face it... we all love talking about steem!

now my back up option:
Hi - I think I'll go with the Steem Times - The Newspaper - I've been thinking doing an 'in the news' type weekly post anyway, so this fits with the direction I want to take stuff. Looks likes it's got legs, or words at least.
Also I might even learn how to embed images to the side.
Karl. (UK, sociology quest obvs!)
This is obviously a bit niche given the lack of response. So I'm more than happy to contribute to the newspaper and develop this sociology ide a in the slow cooker and open it up to a wider range of peops.
Cheers! I think I might might title my next vlog 'on the wierdness of replying to myself (although it's not actually as wierd as being auto-voted by a non-human)'.
I think snappy titles are massively overrated.
I choose speak freely tv please, second choice is mystery project 2! Gonna check out evecabs stats, and edit my reply if need be :)
Edit, as evecab won in homesteading as did I, I might not be able to participate in Speak freely TV. :(
All good though, I picked Mystery Quest 2 for back up and I'm sure it'll be awesome :)
I choose Speak Freely TV =)
Thanks @anomadsoul for always being amazing.
I pick Project : Steemit's first NGO
I am from Nigeria
Hey @phait, thank you so much for showing interest in the project! Hit me up on discord if you have any additional questions about the project :)
Okay.... Will do immediately. Thanks for having me on this one.
Hi fellow campers. My choice is based on what I can both bring to the project and, hopefully, to communities around the world as I set off on my travels at the end of the year. I have a background working in the charitable sector also so
Steemit´s first NGO
Is my choice to work with :-)
Country: UK
Quest Won: Travel
Thanks @raj808 and thank you for your insightful questions on discord regarding the project! Its great to hear that you have experience in charity and community work.
My pleasure. It is great to be on board :-)
Wow. Interesting! I love what people are turning this community into. I have this huge penchant for helping people. I chose Steemit's first NGO
Glad to hear it, how can we not use this amazing platform to help others right!
I see a lot of potential in affecting our immediate environments with steemit and the knowledge of cryptocurrency. There is something 'spirit lifting' in doing what you love and also affecting lives positively with it.
So, i am going for Steemit´s first NGO
Thank you for showing interest in working on Project Giving with us :)
One of my favorite aspects of the project is that it shows how Steemit can be used for positive developmental change around the world!
