To have an effective business meeting, the meeting must among other things have an agenda. A business meeting without an agenda is such a boring one, there you could see the attendees fiddling their mobile phones and/or doing some other things to ease the boredom. A business meeting must be brief, lively and humorous, thus making it interesting to all participants.

Some business leaders organize say weekly, monthly or quarterly meetings with repeated agendas, thus making it boring and uninteresting. They engage in unnecessary and irrelevant repetition which makes them participants feel bad.

However, to overcome this, a business leader should set the agenda of every meeting before time for all intending participants to grab a copy of, in order to prepare early. And should have varieties of activities to make them interested.

2 Meetings that are a one-way conversation.


As a business leader, you should allow inputs into every meeting from participants. Your employees should have a say in every meeting in order express their views on what them experienced while in the duty posts.
Encourage your team to speak up when necessary so that every issues raised can be addressed for the company to move forward.

3 Meetings with lax leadership.


When a leader is often late for events, the followers follow suit. Whatever you do as a leader, your follows would emulate. When a business meetings are organized, the organizers should make certain rules to govern the proceedings of the meeting. Participants should be seated and focused while the meeting is on. They shouldn't be seen roaming about the meeting avenue, causing distractions. The leaders should help also by being disciplined.

4 Meetings that harp on setbacks instead of strategies.


The company’s setbacks should be addressed during meetings, but not in a way to cast blames on participants. Rather, in a way to find a lasting solutions to them. It should be such that efforts are made to stop the reoccurrence of such mistakes, by strategic planning and implementation. Inputs from participating employees should be welcome and weighed accordingly to ensure when implemented, they bring lasting solutions.

5 Meetings that disrupt the most productive hours.


Meetings shouldn't be held when workers are supposed to carry out their responsibilities. It shouldn't at any time fall within the hours of their duties. If they are to work in the morning, then the meeting can take place in the afternoon and so on.
