Things just went wrong today.

Have you ever had one of those days that you just can't believe things can get any worse. The festive period often puts unwanted stress and pressure and it is just about keeping your cool and getting through it..

At the one warehouse this morning the forklift went on the blink. There were 4 of us so we started hand balling it by offloading by hand and repacking onto other pallets. The first truck took us just under 3 hours and we had more arriving. Most companies are shut for the season so I had to find another forklift to cover for the next day or so.

I found one down the road and was just a 10 minute drive. Too far for driving a forklift on the road so I needed a recovery vehicle to transport it for me. I negotiated a fair price for this time of the year and he collected it. While offloading the cable snapped and the forklift went careering off into the empty carports demolishing one of the support poles. Forklifts don't travel very fast but this was the fastest one I have seen with no one driving it. It could have been worse as my car could have been in the carport at the time.

All was going well until we had the normal thunderstorms followed by sunshine and more thunderstorms. We all got drenched but at least it helped cool us off. Over the course of the day we had lost around 4 hours to all the cock ups and to top it off the last truck got stopped by the police. They wanted to see an invoice of what was being trucked and I had to stop and drive out to where the truck was 45 minutes away.

This has happened before with nosy police and it is not about stolen goods ,but more about being a nuisance and seeing what they can score before Christmas. I don't have time for their games and put them in their place tonight. I wish they would just do their jobs properly and not bother people who are trying to make an honest living.

I am finally home and not keen to see what is being thrown at us tomorrow.
