Why Bespoke Photography Can Help You Compete For Attention

As humans we are visual creatures and we live in an increasingly visual world in which our attention is the most prized asset for marketeers. This is incredibly important to understand when you are trying to promote your business or brand through your website or social media accounts. Striking imagery that communicates your message is very powerful if used correctly.

When it comes to creating and selecting appropriate images you have a number of options.

  1. Create the images yourself. Most of us now have a very powerful camera in the form of our mobile phone that, when used correctly, is capable of capturing some incredible images. Given the choice of having images or not having images I would urge everybody to get out there and start capturing some of their own.

  2. Stock imagery – there are more photographs being bought and sold online than ever before and stock photography sites are a superb way to pick up some incredible looking images.

  3. Bespoke professional photography – a professional photographer will firstly assess what your business goals are, then go about crafting a set of images that you can use to deliver your own unique message.

All three options have their merits but the online community that exists at present craves two things above all else. One of those is quality and the other is authenticity.

You can certainly achieve authenticity by creating the images yourself but you may well have to sacrifice quality. Similarly, stock images will provide quality but you will almost certainly have to sacrifice authenticity. Bespoke photography, on the other hand, with a photographer that follows a consultative approach and takes the time to understand your goals, offers the opportunity to produce high quality authentic content.

Why are quality and authenticity important?

The online space is a crowded space that is desperately attempting to gain the attention of an increasingly savvy audience. Poorly crafted content is unlikely to achieve the level of attention you desire and a message that is too contrived or insincere will not be received well and will ultimately be ignored or disregarded.

My advice is therefore to hire a skilled photographer who will work closely with you to craft a series of images based upon an understanding of your business and the needs of your customers.
