Easy Paracord Wrap to Protect Your Axe
If you've ever swung an axe you probably know you can occasionally overswing and damage the handle. That's why I wanted to make sure to protect my new axe by using something easy and multi functional.
Cordage is a great thing to have around if you do many outdoor activities. Paracord in particular has many uses and is exceptional in strength. It is filled with an inner core of smaller strands which can be used for fishing or other tasks requiring a smaller diameter. That's why I chose paracord to go on my axe. I already had some so it made perfect sense.
Start by gathering your axe, about 6 feet of paracord, knife or scissors, and a lighter or mini torch. Set the axe in your lap with the blade pointed away. Fold the paracord in half to make equal lengths and begin wrapping the axe starting near the head. It should form straight lines on one side and an X pattern on the other. When you have about 6 inches of paracord left, tie a firm square knot on the rear side of the handle. Cut the tag ends of cord to about 1 inch or less and burn them with the lighter or torch.
That's it! This is a pretty simple and easy way to protect your axe handle. If this has been helpful please let me know and tell us how you protect your axe.
