Task of Powerful Debate (Shopkeeper & Customer)

I understand the customer and the shopkeeper as the core of a business. A business is carried out jointly between these two. Here, the shopkeeper's strategy is to sell a product at a good price, and the customer's strategy is to purchase a product through bargaining. A product will be bought and sold only when both parties' minds align. However, there will be some argument between the customer and the shopkeeper when purchasing this product.

During this conversation, the shopkeeper will show politeness to the customer and give an idea of the quality of the product. And the customer will consider the quality of the product and leave the price of his choice. Of course, customers will want to purchase the product at a cheaper price. For this reason, set a specific price in his mind and start bargaining from the bottom.

On the other hand, the shopkeeper will similarly set a fixed price and offer a higher price. Then they will talk for a while about the product and its price. They will both gradually move towards their target value. At some point, they will both approach a certain value. Only then will the price of the product become a standard price with both parties in mind. And the customer will then purchase that product after receiving a quality price.

That is, I will clarify with an example,

For example, Solayman went to the store to buy a t-shirt. The storekeeper priced the t-shirt at 50 steem. The argument that will then take place between them, Solayman and the shopkeeper, is mentioned below.

Solayman ; The price of this shirt is going to be way beyond my budget. Although it is among my favorites, please tell me its reasonable price.

Shopkeeper ; This shirt is of good quality and the fabric is of good quality. If you want to take it, I will keep its price up to 45 steem.

Solayman ; I will give you 30 steem for this t-shirt, hoping you will make a limited profit from it. Can you give it to me for 30 steem?

Shopkeeper ; Since you like it, I can keep this t-shirt for a minimum of 40 steem, making a very limited profit. Are you ready to buy this t-shirt for 40 steem?

Solayman ; I have already met my target, but I like the t-shirt so I can only offer a maximum price of 35 steem. I can't give more than that.

Then, a good relationship will be established between Solayman and the shopkeeper, and the shopkeeper will pack the product with a smile. Then, after paying the price, Solayman will take it and leave the shopkeeper. This is how a friendly relationship is created between buying and selling.

1. Have you ever successfully bargained your way to a great deal?

Yes, I do a lot of research before purchasing any product. It is my shopping habit to bargain before purchasing a product. Because I understand that the shopkeeper will demand more for a product than its actual price. I also negotiate the price of the product by estimating the correct price of that product. This creates a relationship between us, and we argue with the shopkeeper.

My conversation is conducted in such a way that the shopkeeper cannot get angry in any way. I offer a good price considering the quality of the product, which is normal for the shopkeeper. I occasionally buy products. I have gained a very good experience in purchasing products. That's why I like to negotiate on a product before purchasing it.

I am happy when I can buy products at a fair price. I think before buying a product so that I don't have to regret it after purchasing it. This made me known to the shopkeeper as a good buyer. Personally, I buy products and try to check their prices and buy within my budget.

2. Do you believe it's fair to negotiate prices in local or small shops?

The prices of products in local stores are quite reasonable. At the same time, the prices of products in small shops are quite reasonable. However, it is slightly above the specified value. When I go to some of my local stores, the shopkeepers often quote prices that are 40% higher than the actual price. The shopkeeper sells the product to the buyer only if he can make a profit of 20% from the correct price.

It is understandable that the prices of products in local small shops are not very high. Local shops feel quite self-sufficient if they can sell a product at a 20% profit by reducing the offer price by 20%. I also buy products from local small shops, when the product is claimed to be priced at 20 steem, I have to buy it for 15 steem.

So I would say that there is no need to bargain excessively in small local shops. Products are sold here at relatively reasonable prices. However, when purchasing any product, we should bargain a little, if there is an opportunity. We as customers can be quite frugal by purchasing products in this way.

3. What is your strategy when you ask for a discount?

When I go to buy a product, I bargain first. When I can't bargain for a product, I pretend to leave the place. At that time, I noticed the shopkeeper's situation, maybe he would call me back and give me the product at my price. But he still didn't agree to my price, so I asked him if there were no two identical products, would my price be right? Then the shopkeeper, if possible, sells the product to me and I buy the product.

I don't usually ask for discounts, but I'm proactive if I can negotiate. I have also purchased products that were quoted at double the purchase price. That is, if the shopkeeper demanded a product for 50 steem, I purchased it for 25 steem. So in this case, I was more economical with bargaining than with discounts. Because if there is a discount offer on a product, the maximum is 30% to 40%. But I got it at a 50% discount.

4. What is the most unexpected or hilarious response you have ever heard from a shopkeeper?

While purchasing products, we may sometimes encounter some dishonest traders. And at that time, the arguments reached a very extreme level when purchasing products. I will tell you an unexpected incident. Notice the following paragraph to see what kind of reaction it was.

I once went to buy a watch. But I thought it was a branded watch. I want to know the price of the watch, but the shopkeeper asked for it to be much lower than the original watch. I then suspected that this product was not original. However, the product was completely identical to the original. It was difficult to understand that the watch was fake.

I suspected the watch was a fake, so I told the shopkeeper that I wouldn't buy it because I doubted its authenticity. After saying this, the shopkeeper said, "Then why did you see it?" I was surprised to hear that you have to buy the product when you see it. I just laughed and said, "You have to buy it when you see it?" Why not buy it from the shopkeeper if you want to see the watch?

The incident mentioned is unexpected and even funny to me.😶😄

5. In a pricing debate, who do you usually support the customer looking for value or the shopkeeper trying to survive?

I like to see products priced affordably. I think I should support someone who wants to buy products at a cheap price. Because the shopkeeper demands a relatively high price to earn more profit in his business. But now as a buyer, he hopes to purchase a product at a lower price. That's why I support people who are looking for products to buy at affordable prices.

There are also shopkeepers who have sold cheap products to customers to make their business more popular. This is undoubtedly a good thing, as offering affordable products to customers in order to survive in business is a sign of rising to the top. So I'm looking for a shopkeeper who provides good products to customers at affordable prices.

After all, the main point of these two paragraphs is, I am looking for an honest businessman who is free from fraud. Only honest businessmen can survive and succeed in business.

En Venezuela, se maneja un margen de ganancia de 30%. Sin embargo, por la hiperinflación ese margen puede subir incluso un 100%. Luego, con el regateo el comerciante puede obtener más de 50% que los debe invertir rápido porque si no ese margen dejará de existir y llegar a convertirse en "recuperar la inversión".

En cambio, en países normales puede verse lo poderoso que es un buen regateo para que el comerciante sienta que ha ganado y el comprador que ha ahorrado o pagado un precio bajo.
