Oko means brave person or fearless in Ibibo language. In this week's street business Diaries I'm taking you all to Oko machnic workshop located close to Etoi secondary school Oron road Uyo Akwaibom state. This young man I'm going to tell you is a well known young man along this aixes, he has been in this street for more than 7years . According to him he dropped out of school due to his parents inability to train him at the age of 12 he followed his friends father to learn machnic, it was like a joke when he became one of the best machnic yet there was no money to start up his own workshop. He started following bricklayers until he raised little money to acquire the space he is currently.

Because of his hardworking spirit he was named Oko and that becomes his workshop identity. Today Oko has more than three Apprentice and he has the following services in his workshop.

  • Vulcanizing machine
  • Spraying machine
  • Oxygen for welding

According to him as I visited today , he complained about his workshop being on the roadside while the state government is threatening to remove them from the street without any compensation.

What types of service-based occupations are most in demand in your area? (Barber, mechanic, watch/glasses repairer, van ice cream vendor, etc.)

Nigerians are hardworking people with different professions, in my city to be precised we have uncountable service-based occupation that are in high demand such as barbing salon, mechanic,watch/glasses repairer , van ice cream, hair dressing , tailoring and more.

02 Have you ever used these services yourself or purchased anything? Show pictures + videos and show their prices.

I have been visiting this place even before this review, because we have Keke that someone is driving for us, whenever the Keke has any issues the driver will call us to come to **Oko's workshop . Services price in this place is dependent on the type of of work to be done.

Like the fixing of the fairly used Keke tyre that our driver bought was fixed at N2500 which is approximately 12.5steem.

While vulcanizer service at Oko's is N200 which 1steem.

03 Were you satisfied at the end of the work or were you ever disappointed?

One thing I like about this place is their honesty, Oko has trained his boys to be honest with their customers, even when the owners of the vehicles are not around you will not hear any complain of lost items. I'm satisfied using him to do any machnic work in my autorickshaw (Keke) . They are always at customers service I can remember when the Keke

04 Do people appreciate the work of the shopkeeper? If you have personal experience, please tell us.

Oko is a nice guy, he keeps his shop neat despite being a workshop, he is experienced in this work which attracts people from far and near to his workshop.

I have never seen him qureling with any of his customers as a result of bad work rather he keeps getting recommendations from people.
